Guest guest
Hi y'all, Before I leave for the day to entertain young Austin and his 11 year old buddy who spent the night with him, I wanted to tell my good news. Those of you that have been in the group as long as I have know that I've been battling a weight situation for three years. This past time, a year and a half ago, I lost 30 pounds for the second time during my CP history, and it's been a struggle to regain any of this weight. I've tried everything I can think of, and everything that the doctor's recommended, all with little success. When I went into the hospital a year ago this month with DKA, I was down to 98 pounds. Much of this was dehydration, since I left four days later weighing 107. I got up to 111-114 and couldn't seem to get any further for several months. Well, I'm thrilled to say that the scales have read 120 now consistently for a whole week, and I'm thrilled! I can't wear the size 1-2 clothes anymore, and have moved them now to the back of the closet. I've finally graduated to a size 4, and have a whole section of clothes in this size hanging there, ready to wear! It's like having a whole NEW wardrobe (almost)...LOL! I haven't even started the new brand of pancreatic enzymes yet, because of a hassle with my insurance company. They don't want to cover the Protonix that my doctor wants me to take with the Viokase. So it's not attributable to that. The only thing I've done consistantly now for the last four months is to take 2,000 units of fish oil (2 capsules) each day, along with all my other vitamins and antioxidants. I think it may have been the fish oil capsules. For any of you that suffer from low weight with your CP, you'll know what a victory this is. It may sound silly to those of you that don't have a weight problem, but for me, this was a real and constant concern and affected my overall health and sense of well being. So let's all rejoice with me and have a piece of that turtle cake that Chrissy is making for us............right, Chrissy? With love, hope and prayers,......and lots of smiles!!! Heidi Heidi H.
