Guest guest
Sandy, I read an article recently about red grapefruit. Apparently, it is quite effective in lowering cholesterol. You have to avoid grapefruit if you take certain prescription medications, but if he can have it, you might try to have him eat some every day. Here's a link to the article I read, but you can Google and get many more sites that have the same info. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medicalnews.php?newsid=37457 Patti OT: Cholesterol My son who is in a wheel chair had his blood work done and it came back with is bad Cholesterol double what it should be and his good low. This is a major change since his last test 2 yrs ago. Any advice as to how to reverse this without drugs? Exercise isn't much of an option as he is a quadriplegic. TIA Sandy M. Guest guest
Dear Sandy: YOU MUST LEARN ABOUT HYPERBARICS AND RELATED TREATMENTS. There are some new compounds talked about this very weekend in the International Hyperbarics Conference in Florida that YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT. I will be getting the articles on Monday and will pass them on to you. PLEASE READ THEM. There were people in the conference RECOVERED FROM QUADRAPLEGIA!!!!!, THIS IS INCREDIBLE STUFF, SECRETS FORM THE NEW MILLENIUM MEDICINE. I am a trained DAN Doc, I am not practicing officially yet because I am in the process of healing myself and my daughter as well, even though I have a few patients that I follow. In the meantime, I have been learning and studying about all these new things: herbal medicine, hyperbarics, detox, chelation, etc. I am attending a conference for Hyperbarics this weekend, you must go next year. THIS IS CRAZY STUFF. Some of this guys are recruiting patients for the treatments, for free, just so that they can have a bigger study to publish what have proven in treatments already. People walking after many years of wheelchairs and many recoveries and improvements. I will email you on Monday, but start reading on it. This stuff is beyond DAN! Most of this doctors work on their own field and some don't even know about DAN!, but they are making crazy discoveries in their own field that is TOTALLY related to us. -- , mom to Fiol 19 mo, all family on SCD 1/
Guest guest
Hmmmm... well, now this IS getting pretty off-topic. For the record, we did 40 hyperbaric oxygen treatments with our daughter (diagnosed with CP, microcephaly, seizure disorder, etc.) four years ago and sadly saw absolutely ZERO improvement in ANY area. I'm sure it's helped many, and I know one family in the U.K. who saw their 9 yr old son take his first steps ever after 20 HBOT dives. It's inexpensive in England ( & some other countries) so it wasn't a lot out-of-pocket for them. But it's horrendously overpriced in the U.S. I sure wish I could have back the $5000 we spent on those 40 treatments. My two cents... Guest guest
Yes he is on the diet. He does take some medications and sup. that are not SCD legal but he does the food. A normal breakfast would be Pancake/waffle or muffin with sometimes an egg although not real often. On Sat. we generally have side pork and egg or pancake/waffle. For lunch he has leftovers from supper. Supper we have a meat(beef/chicken occational pork), two veggies. He has a bed time snack with his final meds for the day. This is a fruit, leftover, backed good etc it just depends on what is in the house at the time. Oh, he also eats about a 1/4 c of almonds in the morning when he first starts getting up. It takes me about 2 1/2 hrs to get up and he gets pretty hungry if he doesn't eat something. They are easy and not messy. He will also eat a few, 4-6, almonds when he comes home from work. Guest guest
Interesting. I would be very interested in the articles. s injury is C6 and almost complete. The only thing that was not complete was a twinge of his tryflex muscle in his left arm. I will pass them on for him to read also. He is very much his own person. Are all the conferences in in Florida? That might be a problem for us to get to as we are in northern South Dakota but I guess God is able to do this if it is to be. He went to rehab at Craige in Denver and they also have done some things trying to find more complete recovery for spinal injury but so much of it is stuff that he doesn't agree with. This wouldn't be. I will be watching for the info. You can send it to me privately if you want. Sandy M. > > Dear Sandy: > > YOU MUST LEARN ABOUT HYPERBARICS AND RELATED TREATMENTS. Guest guest
did you guys know that if you have improper imbalance of your omega-3 FA, for example if you have higher 3 than you should over the 6 it can cause your triglycerides to be high and affect your total chol balance? this can be from the supplements, cooking oil,etc -- , mom to Fiol 19 mo, all family on SCD 1/

Guest guest
> > Dear Carol: Cholesterol is of one type, there are two sources: body and diet. " Eating healthy fats " is not enough for someone who has abnormal cholesterol levels in general or a particular subtype abnormality. Obviously, if the diet is being followed and the body has not been able to adjust to it's proper balance, the person is not doing all he/she can to allow for the body to get to that balance. Getting smart about what are " healthy fats " , which ones and how much of each to eat or to supplement is a critical part of balancing a diet, and is an important part in achieving that balance. It also affects the way your body handles dietary cholesterol and its endogenous production. So, it does not hurt for someone to fine tune their healthy fat intake. maria mom to fiol 19mo scd 1/06 Thanks for the heads up but healthy fats are included in the diet like > good vegetable oils > Cholesterol is of two types, dietary and the type your body makes. > > > > > Carol F. > Celiac, MCS, Latex Allergy, EMS > SCD 6 years > > > > > For information on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, please read the book > _Breaking the Vicious Cycle_ by Elaine Gottschall and read the following > websites: > http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info > and > http://www.pecanbread.com > >
