Guest guest
Hi. I had my surgery on August 11, 2000 and when I check in I told them that I did not have any bloodwork or Ekg and needed them done before surgery. They told me to tell the nurse. When you are put into a room, the nurse will go over a lot of things with you, and you will have time to tell her that you need the tests done. I told her, and she did seem to think that I needed either one, but said she would ask Dr. R. They came in and did the ekg(took about two minutes)and they decided that I did not need bloodwork for some reason. It seemed much easier to have it done at the hospital UNLESS you are at risk for being anemic, in which case you may waste a trip to Durham if your surgery has to be cancelled for that reason. Guest guest
Hi Laurie, I'm glad you're keeping track of all us littermates. I hope the 5 of us can keep in touch and have out last pig out dinner in Durham.. I had about the same experience with my PCP,, he is being a horses butt about the surgery but I already have in my hands his letter to Dr.R, so no big deal. My Dr. actually told me he had hoped that my insurance would not approve it so I would have to pay out of pocket!!!! Can you believe it! Of course my insurance DID approve me, (which really bugged him).. I'm going to really love rubbing his nose in all of this once I'm thin.. Start packing! Tuleta in FL Hey Deb in IL, Yes, I'm still here, just keeping quite,, don't want to jinx anything before I do the dance

Guest guest
I think you should rub his nose in the fact that you found a better PCP that will take care of you than him. What a jerk! But congrats on everything falling into place in spite of him! Kind regards, > Re: Surgery on the 20th > > > Hi Laurie, > > > > I'm glad you're keeping track of all us littermates. Guest guest
Tuleta: I repeat, 'what a jerk!' Looking at the other posts so far, it's three for three: how can you have confidence in the professional skills of someone deliberately this rude? Can someone so openly antagonistic be trusted to give his best efforts on your behalf? Why would you let this person continue to abuse you? Certainly you could find a more comapssionate doctor in your area! Well, good luck to you..I am glad you got approved and are on your way! (in spite of him being a jerk!) Guest guest
That was my exact thought, Judith! Tuleta, you mean your'e going to continue to see this jerk? Then I thought, maybe she just wants him to see her success and then she will " quit " him. Even that doesn't seem worth it. You could just go back by his office one day next year and let him see you, but don't trust your post-op care to him. PS, Tuleta, where in Florida are you? I am in Miami. Guest guest
Hi and Judith, and everyone else.. Sorry I haven't been keeping up with the posts.. I've been lurking in the Post Op side, trying to calm my nerves.. My big day is the 20th. RE: my PCP,, don't get me wrong,, he is a good Dr. in fact he saved my Husband's life when he had a heart attack.. he is just a horses butt when it comes to my weight. Besides,, if I did have any thoughts of quitting him after the surgery, I would'nt say it for fear that Dr. R would become concerned and cancell my date... :) Thanks for the advise though. Guest guest
Your choice Tuleta. Just know we're there for you whatever you decide. Warm regards, Judith in Seattle P.S. Just how many months/years do you have to take abuse to pay him back for saving your husband's life? (It's a joke Tuleta.)
Guest guest
Hi Tuleta, I knew there was someone else that should be on my list. Have you picked a hotel yet? There are closer ones, but so far there are about 6 of us staying at the Hawthorne suites. It will be here before we know it:) Laurie > > That was my exact thought, Judith! > > > > Tuleta, you mean your'e going to continue to see this jerk? Guest guest
Thanks Laurie, Wow, all 6 at the Hawthorne... is it a nice place??? I just called the Hilton and it's only $69.00 per night and exactly 3.5 miles away. I've never stayed at a Hawthorne before, (you can probably tell, I'm picky when it comes to hotels.. I'm the one that always checks the sheets to make sure they are clean..got that from me Mom!) I can't believe we only have about 2 weeks to go..I am SO EXCITED. I'll let you know which hotel we pick, See you soon. Tuleta > > > That was my exact thought, Judith! > > > > > > Tuleta, you mean your'e going to continue to see this jerk? I sure hope you find the Hawthorn to your liking...it would be really neat if all our littermates were there together! I can't wait to meet everybody! See you soon... Hey, is it true everyone is going out on Mon. the 18th for a last supper???Love, Tami Re: Surgery on the 20th > Thanks Laurie, > > Wow, all 6 at the Hawthorne... is it a nice place??? Hey, is it true everyone is going out on Mon. the Actually, I've been treating EVERY meal like it's the last supper.... but yea.. lets try to get together.. since we shouldn't eat much the day before the surgery.. I figure the 18th is the safest.... Let me know, Tuleta
