I live in Falls Church, VA, and have United Healthcare Select Plus POS. My

surgery was covered 100% in network. I had no costs other than travel and

hotel.

insurance question for MD'ers and northern VA

folks

Hi,

I know people have already answered this question but if you have had the

MGB, live in the MD or Washington DC area can you please post your insurance

company and you experience with them. I currently have Optimum CHoice

(MAMSI, MDIPA) and am considering changing to BCBS of MD. DOn't know if

they would be any better. I found a flat exclusion of all treatment for

morbid obesity.

Thanks!

Amy,

I have United healthcare POS of NC, it's a self insured fund through my

husbands workplace. They denied me on Dr. R's first letter, said it's an

exclusion. I know there are different policies for different states. What I'm

asking is did you have an exclusion in your policy regarding surgery or was

yours an out of network thing. I'm trying to figure out if I can fight the

exclusion in my policy on " weight loss surgery " or if I should just give up

and save to self pay. The letter they sent me saying it was denied said I

could not appeal it. I would like your input if you don't mind.
