Guest guest
I checked into her briefly. She is interesting in her background and approach but it seemed very, very expensive and required so many different supplements which I could never get in my guys even if I could afford them! At any rate, I do know from what I checked that she is big on avoiding too much protein. Her issue with SCD is the amount of protein, which she believes should be limited. She advocates gluten and casein free and limiting the junk and excitotoxins. All good things of course! I'm not saying no one working with her is doing SCD...I think some are...but that she has some issues with SCD and limited grains.
Guest guest
dear Janice: Dr Jasco's work goes beyond DAN, for certain problems in particular. Do you know what in particular are your child's metabolic problems? We all share some similar problems, but biochemically have a different thumbprint. That can tell you if your child will be helped by her work. maria mom to fiol 19mo scd 1/06 > > I checked into her briefly. Guest guest
, I have not yet done the genetic testing she uses to guide supplementation, but from previous genetic testing done by a clinical nutritionist I know that some of the genetic metabolic mutations she addresses are present in both of my boys. Both have leaky gut, autism, central nervous system dysfunction, apraxia and each has his own subset of issues they don't share. Neurotransmitter and amino acid testing I've done recently shows that they are not absorbing the proteins they are consuming, and high levels of taurine/low levels of citrulline indicate they may both have the CBS mutation, are producing large amounts of ammonia, and perhaps a high protein diet is doing them in. Metabollically, my kids have some serious problems and they are getting worse, not better. That is why I am looking for anyone on this list who is following Dr. Yasko's protocols and still keeping with SCD. I like the ideas behind SCD/BTVC and I'm curious about whether I can cut back on protein and still maintain a healthy diet for them without adding back carbs. Currently I am still having trouble getting vegetables into them...Then again, this is true of many toddlers, right? Guest guest
Dear Janice: You are very well informed. It sounds like you might benefit from her evaluation and recommendations. If SCD has been as good to you as it has been to us, there are always options. She has a very good book that talks about each of her treatments for each of the mutations and combinations. If I were in your particular situation and had the money, I would read the book and still go to her. Some people that know the book well try the treatments by themselves, that is why she has two prices for the evaluations, the test alone and the test with her interpretation and recommendations. Maybe it is just me, but I think that there is always something else you learn from the evaluation, even if you know and understand her book by heart. I am very interersted in her work and will try to make some inquiries about SCD and her. You can also email her and ask her about her willingness to work with you with a diet like scd. About the vegetables, sometimes is the most simple thing that they hate and we are so eager to give them to them that we missed on finding out how they would actually eat them. People on the list have much experience in finding out ways of giving them the veggies. What have you tried so far? Which veggies do they hate the most?..Like the most? I wish you best of luck, please keep us posted. mom to fiol 19 mo, all fam SCD 1/06 > >

From our list guidelines: " Discussions and advertising of alternative diets, illegal foods, treatments that are not recommended, or other subjects that are not part of the science and practices of SCD are not allowed on the list. " The size and mission of the list make it best to limit discussions to SCD . Since Dr. Yasko uses many supplements and some protocols that are not SCD compliant it would be appreciated if you would follow the above guidelines. Perhaps you would like to continue discussing Dr.Yasko privately by email. No offense intended. Carol F. Guest guest
Dear Janice: please feel free to email me privately. you can also join other discussion groups that can handle the more detailed discussions about SCD. there are a few on yahoo. It makes sense, since we all have particular situations within SCD, and we all use treatments that are complementary to SCD. Even though many things are often discussed here by all, this site has the purpose of teaching the basic diet and that's it. Dear Carol: This discussion is not outside the scope of SCD, since the intention is to have the doctor adapt the treatment to be accessible to people who do SCD. It might be outside the scope of the group, if so, then we will continue the discussion in private, of course. Lets say that because of this particular person like Janice, dr jasko creates a treatment that is accessible to those on SCD who need it. Inclusion, not exclusion. Can you see this? Often people stop doing SCD becasue it gets too complicated for them, they have no support when they actually try to apply it to their particular situation. SCD is a Healing diet and it is sad to see people to depart from the diet because they don't have the support to put it together as an integral part of their treatments. I know that you have helped a great deal of peple, including my family, to learn about SCD. So I take absolutely no offense in your comments. I understand your intention, thanks. maria > > > From our list guidelines: > > " Discussions and advertising of alternative diets, illegal foods, > treatments > that are not recommended, or other subjects that are not part of the > science and > practices of SCD are not allowed on the list. Guest guest
I would be interested in learning about other SCD support groups online. I know that a yahoo search is available but I would like to stick with groups that are credible and adhere to SCD rules/guidelines (maybe with additions or alterations). Thank you for your time Tammy SCD 6 weeks - I am not sure if it is working and am thinking I might need to modify for yeast issues. Re: Re: Anybody here using Dr. Amy Yasko's protocols? Autism is a complicated condition and there are many valid adjunctive therapies that night be chosen along with SCD that are but are outside the scope of this group to address because we are singularly dedicated to SCD. the moderators have been very, liberal about allowing some discussion when prefaced with " OT " We had to set some limits a while back on topics. At one point, OT began to outnumber SCD. So I don't want you to view my post as prejudicial in regard to Dr. Yasko. There is another list, " Healing Crow " that allows more latitude with SCD and other types of healing and it is possible to belong to this and other Yahoo lists as well. Carol F. Guest guest
Yes, we do a low protein and glutamate version of the SCD because Graham has a CBS mutation. I should have known that since he craved protein! a > > Hello Friends, > > I am considering changing gears from DAN! protocols to Dr. Amy Yasko's > protocols because my older son has gotten a little worse, not better > in the last two years.
