Guest guest
YEA!!!!!! We are done! We had the appt. with our ortho today and he took some measurements, and get this, the diagonal difference is 0mm We are elated! We were hoping for at least 2mm or less when we went in today, but we were trying not to get our hopes up. We couldn't have asked for better results! I started crying in the office... stupid hormones! Here is our history: 2m check up noticed " gaze " preference to the right and started stretches for her right tort and working on repositioning 10/22/08 4m check up, tort mostly improved but plagio not much better 10/29/08 First visit with Hanger, 10mm difference, decided to try repo for a few more weeks 11/19/08 (5m)- back to Hanger, still at 10/11 mm, decided to band 12/1/08 started STARband at 11mm diagonal difference (low end moderate) 1/12/09 (only 6 weeks later!!) 0mm I can't believe how quick this all went, but I also think that because she was so young it really helped too - Lucy was just over 5 months when we started the band. She had a total growth of 1.7cm in head circumference during her helmet time which I am sure was helpful. I will definitely post some after pictures shortly, as soon as she wakes up from her nap and I take some!! I will post them under the before and after STARband folder. For all of you parents our there wondering if you should band or not - I highly recommend it, I have no regrets this way. I am glad we did it so young too because we saw change quickly. Dealing with the helmet is a pain...but it just becomes part of your daily routine very quickly. And, it was much more traumatic for my husband and I than Lucy - she could have cared less! Thanks for everyones help and input around here- I have talked so highly of this group to many and I hope others find it as useful and therapeutic as I have! I also HIGHLY recommend at Hanger in Children's Hospital Milwaukee, WI. He is fantastic - he is one of those great, knowledgeable, intelligent Hanger orthos. Sending many wishes for beautiful round baby heads! And here's to hoping regression isn't a problem..... Thanks again! - Meg, mom to Lucy 6.5m, STARband grad 1/12/09!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
