Guest guest
Hi Tammy, I learned an important lesson regarding insurance. I had mailed in my letter to CIGNA and called about a week later to find out if they had reeived it. I was told that it took TWO WEEKS to get something they received in the mail into the system. I then faxed it in and called two days later - they said they had never received the fax. the girl I talked to told me to fax it to her attendtion and she would call me back to let me know she got it. I faxed it again and she called the next day to say she had gotten it and walked it down personlly to Medical Review and would call back in a week or so to tell me whether it had been approved. So I would suggest you call the insurance company and see if you can get the person who takes the call to do the same thing. I think it will save a lot of time - and the get process underway faster. Someone also posted a great idea yesterday or the day before - if you have not already talked to your PCP about this surgery, send them the Patient Education Manual and maybe some info from the Web site and ask him or her to read it before you go in. That way they will be prepared for the conversation asking him or her to support you in seeking the surgery. I think it's a great idea (thanks to whoever suggested it!!!). I was scared to talk to my PCP - I thought she would think I was crazy. But after she read all the material she was really excited about it as an option for me. - waiting in Chicago I jumped a hurdle I think I jumped one of my hurdles this morning. I received my insurance letter from Dr. R to send to my insurance co. I'm looking at each step as a hurdle. The next is to get approval from my insurance co. I think I might be pro-active and set up my pre-op appointment with my PCP. Does anyone know if there is a time frame in which Dr. R. wants your pre-op exam done? Any suggestions on accomodations near the hosp.? I think my mother will go with so my hubby can stay back and watch our 3 children. My supervisor is wonderful and will approve pretty much anytime I need I'm the director of a CBRF for Alzheimer's Residents (love my job). Have a great day everyone, I'm smiling today (hurdle jumping does that). Guest guest
Hi all, I posted yesterday about faxing the insurance letter instead of mailing it. After mailing and then faxing it the first time, CIGNA (Illinois) claimed they had never received it. I finally talked to someone on Thursday who said to fax it to her attention and she would personally walk it down to Medical Review and call me back. I expected a call back within a week. I turned my cell phone on yesterday and there was a voice mail message from Friday saying that I had been APPROVED!! I am so excited. Now I'm just waiting for my PCP to return from vacation so I can finishe the packet and get it in to Dr. R. - waiting in Chicago I jumped a hurdle I think I jumped one of my hurdles this morning. I received my insurance letter from Dr. R to send to my insurance co. I'm looking at each step as a hurdle. The next is to get approval from my insurance co.
