I don't know if this is SCD legal, but Custom Probiotics makes a

line of very high-potency probiotic powders that contain ONLY the

probiotics - no disaccharide or polysaccharide fillers. You can buy

single strains, and they probably have this strain.

My son is medically unable to take any lactobacillus acidophilus

cultures due to a d-lactate condition, and his stool tests show he

lacks a good flora base in his gut. Our nutritionist has just

recommended the Custom Probiotics line (they have a specific D-

lactate formulation especially fo ASD kids).

needs to be treated with a probiotic that contains 30-50 cfu's of

lactobacillus rhamnosus. I know that this is not a legal probiotic

on SCD and that SCDophilus is the only legal one. But will it treat

the specific bacterial overgrowth as needed? Since the lab said to

use the lact-rham., I am concerned that SCDophilus may not treat

this particular problem.

Hi Lynn,

Lactobacillus acidophilus is the only legal bacteria Elaine rec'd in a

probiotic. SCDophilus is a legal brand of probiotic.

L. rhamnosus can be found naturally in homemade sauerkraut. Using some

sauerkraut (even just the juice) and a legal probiotic may help.
