Guest guest
Sharyn, I know a lot of us have had dental problems. Seems like I am always at the dentist. In fact, that is how I found out that i felt better on antibiotics. I have to take them for dental procedures because of my heart and noticed that I felt better when I saw the dentist. Weird huh? I'm not sure about the bleeding and infection but I would definately call your dr first. I would think that you should be on an antibiotic, but that is just my opinion. Infections spread so fast through the mouth. Please let us know what the outcome is. I'm thinking of you and hoping everything turns out okay. hugs

Guest guest
Hi Sharyn, Can I join your "toothless to be" club? LOL I am about to lose a tooth and have another loose one. (oh thank you pred.) My jaw bone is being eaten away. I have had dental work done with novocaine and did not have a problem. Want to address the dry hands issue. My hands were so bad I could not stand it. I saw a Dermo. and the creme she gave me did not work. My hands are totally healed now. I use Oil of Olay Total Effects hand creme. I use it on my feet too. Also wash your hands with Oil of Olay or Dove soap only. Hugs, Sandy Well if I haven't had enough of RP and medication now I have a dental question. Seems like one of my teeth figured out how to make my life worse by eitehr breaking off or loosing a filling. Right now I'm at work and cannot tell which. Now since I'm on the MTX and Pred was not sure if I need to pass this by my Rheumy...am doing that right now waiting for a call back. However, figure I would ask you guys what the deal is when it comes to your teeth since you know they have to deaden the gums when pulling and of course there is the bleeding thing. Have any of you been faced with this one? No pain right now so figure I can wait to see dentist...Damn...just one more cost and someting to go wrong...Have already lost about 5 to 7 teeth these past few years. Guest guest
When I have something done to my teeth, they put me on antibiotics first as a "just in case", maybe your rheumy will do the same for you. Guest guest
Hey Sandy You " really " don't want to be a part of this tootless club do you Anyway, not worried about the novocaine, but was worry more about the bleeding thing. Besides the RP and the meds I'm on I have diabetes too...All these wonderful medical problems building up...Shoot if it doesn't rain it darn well pours... Was suggested taking antibiotics...didn't think of that one, but sounds like someting that they may do. Still haven't heard back from the Rheumys office, but that's okay since the dentist cannot see me until the 9th of April. Hopefully won't have any pain, but the damn tooth is like a fang and sharp as can be. Haven't bother getting a partial since I know in about a year all the teeth will go and I refuse to pay out all that money just to have to turn around and do it again. Same thing with root canal....won't have it either...might as well toss the money out the window since you know the teeth are shot anyway. Reason I want to go to this dentist is he's the only one I trust. I'm one of those who has panic attacks when I have to see a dentist. So far he's been the only one who can calm me down and also will pull the teeth when I say and not try to take me to the cleaners like most of them try buy telling you they can do this and that to save or extend you keeping your teeth and by the time you finish paying out the nose....well you get the picture. Will try the Oil of Olay thing. At home Dove is about the only soap I use...but even plain water it torture to the hands. My fingers on the outside toward the nails get almost like callases <sp> too. Nothing like having a working " man's " hands...Hopefully that Oil of Olay will work. Thanks for the info Hugs Sharyn > Hi Sharyn, > > Can I join your " toothless to be " club? Guest guest
Yep, I lost a cap around Christmas and my dentist recommended that he replace with a bridge since there was a tooth with an old filling next door. I thought I could just have it done, no problem, but maybe i would check with the rhumey first. They almost had a fit, said if it wasn't medically necessary to absolutely NOT have any procedure. They said it was because of the infection factor as well as bleeding. As I sit here and write this to you, my tongue is in the hole where the cap was. Nothing works out quite right anymore, does it? Guest guest
Sharyn, just to confuse the issue, I had two wisdom teeth removed earlier this year, with no antibiotics, and no problems. Now I think about it, that was awfully risky! I'd better think twice about the dentist, or at least any procedure that will cause bleeding. Thanks for the info, it may have saved me from some problems I could just as well do without. Love, Judy Re: Dental Hey SandyYou "really" don't want to be a part of this tootless club doyou Anyway, not worried about the novocaine, but was worry moreabout the bleeding thing. Guest guest
, if it can't be fixed with duct tape, it can't be fixed at all. Duct tape fixes EVERYTHING! Love, Judy Dental I was fitted for a new cap on my back tooth last year and when Iasked the Rhuemmy if it was okay to go to the dentist he said no. Andlike a dummy I never asked why. He said wait and I still dont knowwhat I am waiting for . HAHA I need to ask him next time I see himwhy he doesnt want me to go. So now I have this half tooth whichdrives me crazy. I called my dentist and told them since I havealready paid for it to hold it for me. But I just may go pick it upand let my hubby put it in. He is a genius when it comes to duct tapeand supper glue.HHAHAHA. My luck they will give it to the firstperson who needs one. Thats what I told them and the dentist said ifthat happens he will just call the local morgue for me and try tofind a spare one. I told him I was going to turn him into theAmerican Dental board if they had such a thing. He was just kiddingme I know but I am serious about the super glue.hahah But I reallydont want to join a toothless club See ya,
