Guest guest
Hi folks, I have a 14 month old boy who has been diagnosed with autism and has severe gastrointestinal issues (diarrhea for 5 months now, leaky gut, milk allergy, dozens of IgG sensitivities, you name it). We have been GFCF for about 6 weeks now, but our latest stool test shows that his gut is getting much worse, not better. He has a couple of very bad bacteria, inflammation markers off the charts, low pH, low zinc, and more. So our doc told us we need to switch to SCD. This leaves me with a few questions, because I am breastfeeding him, and he has major texture aversions so the only food he will eat is pureed baby food. Here are my big questions: 1) Will the SCD diet even work on my guy since he is consuming breastmilk all the time, which is very sweet and contains lactose? 2) Does anyone have info on breastfeeding a food-sensitive baby? Basically I'm wondering what all goes through the milk so that I know what I need to eat. I know that the big proteins like casein and gluten do, and I saw big " withdrawal behavior " within hours of removing them from my diet, but I'm not sure about other foods. I'm GFCF right now, but do I need to do a strict SCD diet in order for SCD to work for my kiddo? 3) Is pureed jarred baby food (like Gerber) allowed on SCD, or do I need to make all my own baby food? Thanks so much, I really appreciate the help!
