try changing the laundry soap to something that doesn't cause

allergies and don't use any fabric softener.

Also, add in some essential fatty acid if you haven't already done

it.

If you're seeing " chunks " of undigested food, he is not chewing his food well

enough. You may need to puree everything until he is able to chew more

thoroughly, or until his system is able to handle things like this better.

I can't tell if its food or not. He isn't eating anything that

would look like that. Thats why I was wondering if green beans

could turn black after going through the digestive system or if its

still just die off.

He won't eat stuff pureed. He is barely eating the fruit cooked.

I try to cut in up in as little pieces as possible.

We have been using baking soda to wash our clothes and we haven't

used any fabric softener in a couple of years. I also make all our

cleaning products and we don't wear perfume/cologne or let anyone

handle him that does. He takes cod liver oil for the efa's.

Hi ,

If you honestly cannot tell if it is food or not, I wanted to suggest

another possibility. If your son is fairly new to SCD, it seems

possible that his system is clearing itself out.

I have heard some gross stories about very disturbing " things " coming

out of children when their bodies finally begin to clear out. It

wasn't always " die-off " , but just the clearing out of gunk that has

been in the digestive tract for a while.

I read one account of a parent whose child passed gobs of mucous for 3

weeks simply because that is what had coated the intestines all that

time he was ill. The child finally started to heal and was " shedding "

this stuff as a result.

Obviously, keep a watchful eye on the situation. You may pick up more

clues as you go along here. But I just wanted to present the

possibility that this may be a good thing. Sometimes you have to

endure some nasty things before you " step forward. "

If the situation does not improve (and you still cannot determine

whether it is food or not), you may want to examine other

possibilities. Enzymestuff.com has been invaluable to me when I am

playing " poop detective. " Look under the " studying stools " section.
