You can always walk at another site couldn't you? Where in PA are you? I am in

south eastern PA and we walk at Ridley creek state park. you could come walk

with us next spring! try not to give up the walk if you can get to another

site. There are several here in this area, is there only one near you? What

chapter of the CFF is it? We are in the Delaware Valley chapter and there are

11 walk sites for our chapter. I hope you can find another walk site so your

son sees how many people really do care.

Great Strides

Well, I've just received some good and bad news from my local CF chapter.

The bad news is that they're dropping our walk site. I've worked my butt off

to try to get the numbers up and I had quite a few new people on our team this

year. Our site just isn't bringing in the money I guess. This saddens me

cause this is the one thing that I look forward to every year. What do I say

to

my son when he asks when the walk is? This was, in my own heart, for him.

Now he'll think that no one cares!

On a good note. Dropping our site could lead to a potential cure. I guess

the foundation, or whoever, has several research projects underway and one of

them could lead to a potential cure!!!!!!!!!

Guess we won't be getting the yearly T-shirts that we also look forward to.

We have every years for the past 7 or 8.

I had to get this off my chest and what better place to do it.

I am sorry to hear that. I hope that it does lead to something

that wonderful. I am sure that we will all be crossing out fingers and

toes for that wonderful day to come while all of our children are

healthy enough to benefit form this.

Do your own walk!! Anything would help to raise money. We have done many

carwash's to raise money, I have also heard of people doing bake sales at

Walmart,

or even have a breakfast fundraiser. Last June we did a Camouflage ball and

made around $6,000 it was are first year but we are hoping next year will be

even bigger. Don't give up on them start your own if you have family and friends

all ready lined up tell them there has been a change in plans and give them

some ideas as to what they would like to do I am sure they would love to help.

That is a great idea. We are going to do a wrap around event (as

the cff calls it) sometime this year. I am not sure what it will be

yet, but it will give us a chance to wear our TEAM ZACHARY shirts

again. We had a little shirt made for Zach that says I AM ZACHARY.

He was quite the center of attention at our walk.

I am going to be volunteering (as time permits) to go to schools to

give speeches and to give speeches at local clubs. Maybe if more

people are familiar with the disease they will be more inclined to

give when it comes to Great Strides time. Once I get my speech

prepared I am going to send a letter to the school district, Chamber

of Commerce, and the local hospital. I will be going to my niece's

sixth grade class soon for my first speech. They raised money for

Zach and want to meet him.

Our town has four walks a year for different charities so it is

tough to raise money with just a walk. As one Team Leader pointed

out, " they need to do something original. Everybody does a walk. "

I was quite irritated with her. She obviously hasn't been run over

by the reality truck like we have. I thought having a child with a

rare disease was very original.

The Camouflage Ball sounds like fun. Maybe you could write to Bass

Pro Shop and see if they could send you something to raffle off. My

husband loves that store!
