Subject: Cream substitute

Well, my husband and I are going to bite the bullet, and go scd with the

kids. Oh sure, we eat scd meals with them, but my husband eats snacks that

are brought to work...and that's constantly...and I am sneaking my ice

cream, cookies, ect. when the kids are not around. We think it will be good

for us to clean out our guts. One question I have is a cream substitute. I

know that coffee is allowed on scd, but I always have cream in mine. Does

anyone have a suggestion as to what to use instead? Yogurt maybe?

Yogurt and honey or how about coconut milk or nut milk?

Meleah,

Elaine says in BTVC that small amounts of legal cream may be treated with

Lactaid drops and used in a beverage. Lactaid drops are no longer available

in the US; I got mine the last time I went to Canada, and then got a

replacement when I got a " Katrina care package " from a Canadian friend.

You can also do interesting things with hazelnut, almond, and coconut milks

and honey to make flavored coffees.

How about cream bulgare? Hasn't the lactose in that been digested by

fermentation?

What would constitute legal cream? Can these drops be order on line? Can

you give me some details off line for making the flavored coffees? That's

something that I will miss. I do love my Starbuck's cappuccino and such.

I was shocked to see Elaine told the Toronto contingent to use whipping cream

treated

with a few drops of Lactaid in coffee. She repeatedly offered it to me when I

stayed at her

house. I never accepted and just got used to drinking my java diluted and black

with

saccharine. I am currently getting weaned off of coffee entirely as it

aggravates a heart

murmer. I'm down to a 1/2 teaspoon of grounds to about 12 oz. of water once a

day.
