Egroup Ads

Several people sent me the info telling me to change my egroups profile

to " text only " email to get rid of the ads. I did that and resubscribed

until I got a message and I see plainly that it did not work. I still

get the ads. See below.

Several other people wrote to tell me to get the digest. I don't want

the digest because (1) I have to manually type in a subject line on

anything I want to answer which is far more time consuming than the ads

and (2) In order to quote a message, I have to wait for the entire

digest to be quoted into the message, then delete the 25 messages I

don't want to quote. I personally think the digest is a HUGE waste of

time if you are actually interacting with the mail list and not merely

reading.

So, anyway, I cannot tolerate these ads in the beginning of messages and

I'm unsubscribing again.

For $5 a month ($60 a year) Egroups will not put ads in any mails. I

will pay for a month and Blair offered to pay for another month. We

need 10 more people to pay for a month.

I'm unsubscribing again. If you want to write to me, write to me at

lindat @ mindspring.com (no spaces).

Why not just go to the web site instead of having the messags sent

to your e-mail. That is what I do now and I love it, I don't have to

keep my e-mail cleaned out and I don't have to worry when I'm out of

town or can't get to my e-mail.

It's too slow on a 56K baud modem. I detest slow in computers, which is

why I hated the ads in the first place -- time wasting. I use " web only "

before vacation or trips so the email doesn't pile up on the server

while I'm gone but it also means there will be a ton of messages I

didn't get to read and probably won't since they are all on the web and

it's too slow.

The good news is that we got the ad thing fixed today. Egroups has " an

offer you can't refuse " where they won't put ads in your email if you'll

only pay them ( " protection " money)of $4.95 a month ($59.40 a year) and

they take credit cards.

Yep that is what I do also. I tried the e-mail thing and dern I was

getting so much e-mail! I also find it easier to skip around and see

what Ihave read already, etc.
