Guest guest
Yes, Staph, even if it is not a resistant strain (MRSA) can be very difficult or impossible to eradicate in many patients with CF. Staph can be picked up in so many places - do not think that it is because you did not clean enough. It seems impossible to avoid and if one is prone to picking it up, it seems they will. Many doctors do not treat staph if it is NOT causing clinical symptoms, such as excess coughing. It does not cause these symptoms in everyone, though it will do its damage over the long term. In the case of my son and many others who continually culture staph, oral antibiotics have been essential to keep the staph under control. I wish he did not have to be on oral antibiotics chronically as I believe they take a toll on the body as well. Without them, the staph flares up to a more serious lung infection and coughing becomes uncontrollable. M Re: MRSA > Thanks , > Question. Is Staph a relitively hard bacteria to eradicate? Guest guest
, If he does culture this again do you think that perhaps we should get going with oral anitbiotics? He will have cultured it 3 times in 5 months. Has had two exacerbations due to it and hopitalized both times. Love to you Ashauna
