Guest guest
Hi Searmi: My gosh! I would want my child off nystatin too if he was hitting his head against the walls. It's so hard to watch some of the things our kids have to go through!! I have dabbled in the natural antifungals - GSE mainly. Didn't seem to help much, and my DAN doc suggested it's too harsh on an already irritated/inflammed G.I tract. We use prescription antifungals - nystatin and diflucan. Diflucan is by far more superiour for taming yeast. Of course we still depend on probiotic to help with yeast/bacteria. Started the goat yogurt about 3 weeks ago and noticed an improvement in her bms. Good luck! Guest guest
thanks, kim! do you have the name and number of a compounding pharmacy that will make an scd legal nystatin or diflucan? have you tried rotation of natural antifungals? i've heard that rotating might be the only way to battle yeast w/o meds. again, i appreciate your time and support! best wishes to you and your daughter, searmi
Guest guest
Not a problem, glad to help. I live in Canada. I have a compounding pharmacy I use here in Toronto, but I'm sure someone else can pipe in about compounding pharmacies in the States (I'm assuming that's where you live?). Dr. McCandless recommends the following rotation for yeast issues (I hope I don't get in trouble - I borrowed this info from another site): > I like Sacro B three weeks on, one week off, and one Ther-biotics Complete (10 different organisms) and one Ther-biotics Detox (combination of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria) daily for prophylaxis. Klaire's Therbiotics should always be taken with food for best effect. If kids can get it down, I like Lauricidin (www.lauricidin.com) for all kids (anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti- fungal all in one). Dr. JM HTH Best of luck to you! I don't know if she is SCD legal with this suggestion and hope someone else does. > > > > Carol F. Guest guest
Hi Kim, You aren't in " trouble " but I do want to let all newbies know that Ther-biotics Complete (10 different organisms) and one Ther-biotics Detox (combination of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria) are both illegal. If they want to do a legal version of this they can substitute with one of the SCD legal probiotics (L. acidophilus only) or yogurt in the place of the illegal Ther-biotics. Guest guest
Searmi, You can get s. Boulardii from Kirkman and SCDophilus from GiProhealth. Culturelle is illegal but the SCDophilus will be just fine. I use both products myself.
