Guest guest
Dr. Rutledge recommends you wait at least 2 years after the surgery to conceive. Due to the risks of vitamin and mineral deficiencies that can cause a lot of problems with the baby. With Love, Lara M. Guest guest
He doesn't want you getting pregnant during the first year after the surgery, due to your substantial weight loss and the risk to the baby of malnutrition and birth defects from vitamin deficiencies during the time you are losing massive amounts of weight. The risk of getting pregnant is *better* than before surgery because hormone related birth control (like birth control pills and the birth control shot) don't work, because your hormones are undergoing a big change during the weight loss period, too, and because you become more fertile as you lose weight as problems that you had with your hormone levels get resolved. You have to use barrier methods, like condoms, in the meantime. Donna Owens wrote: > > I am in the preparation process for the MGB.
