My Dr. can not understand how I can be in so much pain and my lipase levels have remained steadily at 300 but there are times that I'm in an unbelievable amount of pain. Dear , I urge you to go to the " Files " section on our yahoo website and once you're there, click on " Hopkins University " . The page with the information about A & L tests, and other diagnostic tests for pancreatitis is right there and you could easily copy it and take it to your doctor. Sometimes seeing it written in black and white from a highly reputed medical university like Hopkins is enough to change a doctor's antiquated thinking about the importance of a & l levels. Maybe this would be enough to convince your doctor to look into other tests, and enough to explain how severe your pain can be when your lipase is what your lab considers normal.
