Guest guest
Hi All I do hope everyone had a good 4th of July. I went to my sis's to see the baby's nursery and for a BBQ. LONG DRIVE...Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Anyways, I was coming to terms ( OR had stopped crying about at that time) when we got a call from Memphis, TN. Thinking it was her hubby Brad telling me when the funeral is, I picked up the phone. Well, on the other end was na. Steph's 7yo daughter. She apparently had gone through her mommy's Cellular and found my number. She was telling me she was going swimming at her grandma's b/c its the 4th of July. Anyways...she then goes on to say...and her voice started to crack. " Thank you for being my mommy's friend " My heart shattered into a million zillion little pieces. It took everything I had not to start balling on the phone. So I talked with her a little bit although now I could have thought of a million better things to say. I was just floored that this 7yo who just watched her mommy die was saying thank you to me? God it hurt. I then preceeded to cry the entire 2 hours to my sisters. What bugs me the most was that Steph had tried to call earlier that week to say " hi " but I wasn't home. I planned on calling her back this weekend. I will never get the chance to now. I thought it was hard hearing Brad's voice all choked up from crying....hearing her little girl, whom she worshipped, was 100x worse. MY moral is....if you have friends on this list....make that extra effort to meet them. Life is so dang short and Never take for granted that you can talk to them later. B/c you may not be able to. Guest guest
Becki, That would have been awful. What did your friend die from? I always think its worse for a child to loose their mother than father (sorry dads). Mums are their world. (Australia) I Got the Hardest Phone Call......
