My daughter doesn't go there so I don't care. Guest guest
I am sure if varies by state/city etc... I don't eat out much but my friends and I hanged out at the Denny's here. (The location was just bought out by another company and we have lost our hang out ) There was a smoking section. I think that it was only allowed at night or something. My friends said that the IHOP (International House of Pancakes) restaurant across the street is very smokey even the non smoking section. So we don't go there. Also no smoking within x amount of feet from a building. I don't remember the exact distance and I don't know how well its enforced. Lucky. Guest guest
Although we voted the restriction on smoking in restaurants in during the last " election " here in FL there are so many loopholes it isn't enforced. If they sell liquor they're exempt I think among other things. People smoke in restaurants, it seems, everywhere we go and we've had to leave because of Abby. I usually lean away from messing with one's individual rights but, even before our CF, I've always hated to breathe someone's stinking smoke and felt that my rights to breathe were being violated. Probably sounds strange coming from someone who derives 95% of their income from growing tobacco. Go figure. If FDA regulation passes Congress this year and we are compensated (paid for by the companies) for our quota assets I will never grow another crop of it. I've wanted out for some time but it has been our livlihood for 5 generations (although I haven't inherited a cent). It's what I learned from a child and invested heavily in after quitting college. FDA regulation over manufacturing has been needed badly anyway and we see it as our ticket out. > > >

Guest guest
I tell the " smoke free " businesses know how much I appreciate them. I tell them about Abby and I also tell them that the CF Care Center is located here in Columbus and supports ~370 people with CF. The restaraunts that allow smoking don't really care that we disapprove. They are very busy and only driven by revenue. I feel bad that Abby and others with CF can not go to any public place that they want, without the risk of second hand smoke.
