Delware has no smoking in all public places, but they want to retract it at

bars and the slots. My daughter doesn't go there so I don't care. But it is

nice to go out to eat and not to have to be blown smoke on even only at the bar,

smoke travels.

I am sure if varies by state/city etc...

I don't eat out much but my friends and I hanged out at the Denny's

here. (The location was just bought out by another company and we

have lost our hang out :( ) There was a smoking section. I think that

it was only allowed at night or something. My friends said that the

IHOP (International House of Pancakes) restaurant across the street

is very smokey even the non smoking section. So we don't go there.

Also no smoking within x amount of feet from a building. I don't

remember the exact distance and I don't know how well its enforced.

Lucky.

Although we voted the restriction on smoking in restaurants in during

the last " election " here in FL there are so many loopholes it isn't

enforced. If they sell liquor they're exempt I think among other

things. People smoke in restaurants, it seems, everywhere we go and

we've had to leave because of Abby. I usually lean away from messing

with one's individual rights but, even before our CF, I've always

hated to breathe someone's stinking smoke and felt that my rights to

breathe were being violated. Probably sounds strange coming from

someone who derives 95% of their income from growing tobacco. Go

figure. If FDA regulation passes Congress this year and we are

compensated (paid for by the companies) for our quota assets I will

never grow another crop of it. I've wanted out for some time but it

has been our livlihood for 5 generations (although I haven't

inherited a cent). It's what I learned from a child and invested

heavily in after quitting college. FDA regulation over manufacturing

has been needed badly anyway and we see it as our ticket out.

I tell the " smoke free " businesses know how much I appreciate them.

I tell them about Abby and I also tell them that the CF Care Center

is located here in Columbus and supports ~370 people with CF.

The restaraunts that allow smoking don't really care that we

disapprove. They are very busy and only driven by revenue.

I feel bad that Abby and others with CF can not go to any public

place that they want, without the risk of second hand smoke.

It is supposed to be state-wide. I live in PA, very close to the DE and NJ

border and we go quite often to DE to shop and stuff. the smoking ban should be

in effect where you are too.

Dear ,

I live in Newport just south of Wilmington. We are going camping at Cape

Henlopen on the 13th. Do you come up to A I and see the Doc's there? We did

but now we have to see an adult CF Doc and does not do well with change

so we have not gone to the Dr. since Nov. We are still deciding what to do.

Thankfully she has been doing well, if she is sick we go to the Ped still and

she gives us oral stuff.

Let me know more about Sam and you. You can E-mail at my personal E-mail if you

want at blueyejud@....

Have a great weekend stay cool

Flordia has a no smoking law that went into affect as of june 1st of this

year. The only places allowed to have smoking in them are bars that sell no more

than finger foods.

New york also has a no smoking law that comes into affect the 24th or 28th on

this month. it is much striker though and there is no smoking in ANY public

places, not even night clubs or bars
