Guest guest
Dear Ginny, That's disappointing news about Henry's non-release today, yesterday and Saturday. What a hassle for both of you! How disappointing it must be to think he's got the " all clear " and is physically halfway out the door, and mentally already back to the comforts of home....and then have this setback of three days. I do hope that this isn't anything serious. Abcess to me sounds like a dirty word, and hopefully it's just a minor problem that can be easily corrected. The fine needle aspiration, while uncomfortable, is something that probably won't bother him too much, especially after all he's been through already. I had it done and they doped me up pretty well for it, so it didn't seem too bad. Did they say how long he'll be needing this new drainage tube once he's released? Once you bring him home tomorrow, IF you bring him home, please give us another update on everything they found out today. I'll say a prayer that it all goes smoothly and that he'll be resting comfortably in his own bed by this time tomorrow! With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. (snip) they were doing the paper work and then took his drainage tube out (on the side, not where the surgical incision is). It bled like crazy, they think from a tiny vein that kind of " grew " around the tube. (snip) We thought he would come home Sunday, but they decided they needed to do a CT scan (snip) the results of the CT scan showed a little abcess or something near the tube site (snip) they're doing a needle aspiration and possibly putting in another drainage tube (slightly different place) and he's not coming home. Hopefully he'll call me to come get him tomorrow afternoon!
Guest guest
The BEST thing about being in the hospital is going home!!! Glad he's back home. Henry said Dr. Pappas had just been there and his words to Henry were " Can you get a ride home this afternoon? " He said he just had to call his wife, which he did. I left work at 1, got there at 3, the wheels of the hospital " machine " turned slowly but surely. We got out of there at 6 p.m. and just walked in the door! I'm so glad to have him home. He's doing pretty good, but the ride home was tiring. Thanks for the concern from all of you and excuse another " mass e-mail.
