Guest guest
Hello everyone... I am back home now, but still terrified of getting a leak. I have been eating only 1-2 tablespoons at a time, then waiting a few minutes before having more. It is very hard to get much in at this pace, unless I sat around the table all day long. Does anyone know how long before we can eat more at a time? I sure don't want to hurt my healing tummy, but I would really like to have more at one time, if I can. Thanks! Guest guest
Thanks Flo.. I guess I will eat a little more. I haven't felt full yet, but I've probably only had about 4 oz of liquid a day, and if I am lucky, one container of yogurt with my supplements in it. I usually have a little of the yogurt left at the end of the day. I am still only 5 days post op, so I don't want to push it. In a month, I think I will be able to eat whatever I feel like I can hold, so I guess I will just live off of my fat for a little longer...lol Glad to hear your daughter is doing well! Guest guest
I am already looking forward to half a BLT on toast at Cracker Barrel... That was my last meal, I didn't think I would ever get to eat one again. But, since someone else posted that they had one, I guess I didn't need to go eat them almost every day for a month before I went to Durham...lol Deb in IL

Guest guest
Hi Deb: 1 6 oz container of yogurt did me for three " meals " for the first 2 1/2 to 3 weeks. Then during the fourth week, my hunger picked up and I actually desired stuff. That's about all I could eat...now it's way more. For lunch I had homemade ham salad with relish and low fat mayonaise in it and some Lay's potatoe chips..the baked ones because they're low in fat. I'm full when I'm done but I'm very satisfied. The appetite increase with me came very gradually. Relax. Dr. R said generally if we're going to get a leak, we're going to get it in the first few days. Just eat what you can..until you feel full...and gradually that amount will change until your tummy will hold more. Glad to see you posting. Glad you're ok. Guest guest
LOL Deb! Sounds like me with my Edy's Vanilla Bean...only now i hate it..tastes like crap! Nope. You didn't need to eat the one last one..you'll be able to have it again. Funny how we act like we're going to die so we need just one last meal. LOL and when the surgery is over what we had to have doesn't taste like we remembered it anyway. Guest guest
What kind of yogurt are we suppose to buy for post op? Sugar Free, fat free, lite? I guess I need to stock up this week! But I'm unsure of which one to buy. I don't think they have Blue Bunnie in Alabama. If they do I have never seen it. Stormy, have you seen it? Guest guest
Sugar Free, Fat free yogurt is recommended to avoid possible dumping. Food Lion's own brand is quite good if you have Food Lion and they have a variety of flavors. Guest guest
Roxanne, Not real sure what this means but it is word for word from my post op instructions: Under Stage 1 You eat nonfat yogurt at the very least once a day. So I've eaten at least 2 to 3 tsp every day since I got home! Guest guest
Dinah, My papers just say fat free, doesn't say if it can be flavored or not. I chose the fat free from Bryers, flavored of course! I haven't had any problems with it, of course you can only eat a few spoonfuls at the time anyway! Guest guest
Oh Genz, that is what I'm so afraid I will be doing. How do we teach ourselves to eat small portions again. I don't want to learn by getting sick. I would probably stay sick! lol I'm glad BLT are still good for you. They are my favorite sandwich, My husband like a BLTOT. Guest guest
Holly, I don't like the plain either but Breyers has some really good flavored fat free ones! I'm not sure if they advise flavored ones or not, but I ate the key lime pie, blueberry and strawberry, and lemon chiffon I just didn't eat the fruit pieces! They make a strawberry cheesecake one too that me and my kids loved but I haven't tried it post op. Maybe this will help, plus you only can eat a teaspoon or so anyway! Hey if you get past the carafate and the Citrucel the yogurt should be a piece of cake!! Guest guest
Dinah, It only took me ONE time and I learned my lesson!!!!!!! I have not done that since! I know now that I can eat more if I wait a while..........and that's what Dr. R recommends....6-8 small meals a day. I can gladly live with that. :-) Love, Genz Dinah Boatwright wrote: > Oh Genz, that is what I'm so afraid I will be doing. How do we teach > ourselves to eat small portions again. Guest guest
Hi Deb, The funny thing is I ate that BLT about a month ago and I haven't had another one since. It tasted so good, I don't know why I haven't tried another one......By the way, I always buy real meaty bacon and after I cook it I break off the fat and eat the meat only. I try to buy my bacon at Braums Ice Cream and Dairy Store. It's really good. Genz Hadjab@... wrote: > Hmm Genz... a half of a BLT is way better than no BLT at all!
