Sharyn this is so interesting. I have never had implants but I have been

exposed to alot of chemicals. I worked for my aunt and uncle in their Dry

Cleaning Business from the time I was 5yrs old (didn't actually work then,

but was around all the chemicals.) I worked around the plastic that is used

to shrink wrap and the fumes were awful, did that for 9 years, right before I

was diagnosed with RP. Also live in agrilculture region and am around

pesticides all the time (crop dusting etc) My house is built on an old

Almond Orchard which has tons of chemicals in the soil. Wonder if any of

these are the same that you have listed or maybe just chemicals in general

play a part. Thank you so much for sharing.

well, Sharyn,

I use to work in surgery and helped install those implants all the time. Although I don't have them I did work around them and helped to put them into patients. it does make you wonder, I think we all have been around something similar to cause this weird illness, what? I'm not sure of? The benzene it listed was in a glue I did a lot of work with right before I became ill with RP. I did a lot of jewelry with Austrian crystals and a certain benzene glue. I hope we can find a clue and a solution one day soon

Sorta makes you really wonder just how safe these chemicals. The

Lofol (Formaldehyde) is the one chemical that got to me. Nothing

like being embaulmed <sp>while still alive..huh???

The thing that really gets me is they have said in a lot of the

older report that silicone does no harm. Now after reading this

chemical list and the more detailed list about each chemical and

what can happen there is no way in hell anyone can tell me silcone

is safe.

You know when I had to have that biopcy on my ear the

anistiziologist <sp> (the guy who knocks you out) told me that raw

or liquid silicone does cause harm. Now on the other hand he said

solid silcone does not have the ability to migrate throughout the

body. This makes a hell of a lot of sence if you ask me. Doesn't

it you????

I know you said you helped put those implants in, but Lu did you

ever see any that removed many years later. I mean it would make

you sick to see what happens to them. I just get so upset when I

hear of a young woman getting implants and hear them say, " well the

FDA said they were save and after all they are saline and not

silicone " . Wonder how educated one has to be to know that, sure,

those implants don't contain the silicone gel...However the dang

sells are made out of silicone and they breakdown to. And God

forbid after a few years those implants rupture...Saline doesn't

last forever either and with the body temp the saline solution can

and does grow bactiera and " fungus " . Can you imange what happen

within the body if that is released. I heard it's worse than the

silicone.

Sorry to go on like this. Just makes me wonder where this will

end. And what can be done when they finally figure out what is

making people like us sick and other like the SBI women.

When my daughter was in elementary school her school had a motto.

It has stuck with me all of thes years and it was this:

" KNOWLEDGE IS THE ESSENCE OF LIFE "

To me this statement says it all. This is why I search the web for

anything that may give a clue to RP and other auto immune illnesses.

hugs

Your right on target Sharyn, we all need to encourage more research and we all need to search for anything and everything that might be a clue. I'm hoping one day soon we will know the answer. You take care,

Lu
