Guest guest
Thanks and today is better. I'm at work, with only minimal pain in ribs (front and back) and legs. It's much easier to handle. Thanks for your thoughts! > , I hope today turned out to get better for you. I'm behind as > usual. Hope they got the medication that you need. Know that you are in my > thoughts. Guest guest
My pain starts in the stomach under the sternum and sometimes will radiate up the sternum and into the back from there. Hope this answers your question. Tammy
Guest guest
Yes, absolutely, Pat. I've had pain there many times. Guest guest
Hi . There are times that it does radiate up into my chest - making you almost think you're having a heart attack (if you didn't have the pancreas problem), but it always starts in the upper abdomen and goes through to the back. Hope this helps. Take care. Guest guest
Hi , I have CP and I constantly have pain just under ribs and it radiates to my back between my shoulder blades. I saw my Panc doctor today and she said the pain is something I will just have to deal with. That it is chronic. Take care Patty Corydon, IN > pain > > Hi All, > > Does anyone experience panc. pain high in the back between the > shoulder blades and behind the heart sometimes radiating to the chest? > > Thank you and Warmest wishes > > > > > > > > > > _____ > >
Guest guest
I guess one could say thanks to pancreatitis pain for me..it prepared me for Child Birth...I was scared the pain was going to be so bad, as every woman gets told by other women who've had children...but I would still take child birth over pancreatitis pain...I didn't cry, didn't even utter a sound or bat an eyelid. My husband didn't even know when I was having contractions until they put the monitor on me and he could see on the tape.... Yet let a severe pancreatitis attack hit me, and after 3 or 4 hours of pain on a 10+ level, I'm moaning (only let the tears flow if I'm in the ER room without my daughter around) and crying at times... High pain tolerance..yep that's me *L*

" You hit the nail on the head. This is how the pain feels to me, too. I explained to my doctor that it feels like a vice. One end of the vice is on my abdomen, about an inch below the sternum and to the right, and the other end is on my back. The pain then feels like the vice is sqeezing me and my whole abdomen hurts on the right side. You're also right in that it comes from nowhere. Just today, I felt OK, and sure as heck, around 2 p.m. the pain started in my abdomen and back. Right now at 5 p.m. it's stabbing even after I've taken six 5mg hydrocodone pills. The nausea has become my friend because it's there all the time. No matter, I wake up with, I go to bed with it. Sometimes it's worse, and that too comes from out of nowhere. Then sometimes, maybe 10 percent of the time, it's bad enough to cause vomiting. The weakness is bad too. That comes and goes. Some days I have pretty good energy. Then at other times, I can barely muster enough energy to take a shower or change my clothes. I think I've had CP for a very long time. When I first read about CP, my whole life made sense. I remember I used to get these sharp, stabbing pains in my abdomen. it was the 80s, so I though my disco designer jeans were too tight!! I also used to throw up a lot. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Thats exactly how it feels like a vice grip or shark biting down because for me it goes straight through me and then up to my shoulder under my breast and armpit and sometimes under my right shoulder blade. I have noticed if I have an esophageal spasm I will have an attack toot sweet. I am always more achey in the afternoons. I also notice if I yell at the kids it gives me more pain. Thats the diagphram helping out again. Another good reason to keep a calm demeanor. Well I certainly cant foget about that elusive left elbow pain...lol Chrissy
Guest guest
Fliss, oh yes, I have that belt (though I've usually thought of it as a band of steel that is tightening all the time, making a lot of pressure and sharp pains in the abdomin.
