Guest guest
its Saccharomyces boulardii which is a friendly yeast strain that i ahve no expereince with but have seen positive reports there a very small amount of lacotse in it which they claim is not signficant you can only try it i guess, there will be parents around on other baords who have used it, kirkmans sell a version to the best way is to get a sample and take it yourself any long term destroys the liver, they are just not sustainable > > Is Florastor (www.florastor.com)/S. boulardii okay to use on the SC diet? Our pediatrician is concerned that our daughter will get candida from being on long-term Flagyl as well as prednisone, and insists that only Florastor will prevent this..... > > Ellen > celebrating making it through one week on SC diet with 8.5 year old dd recently dx'ed with Crohn's > >
Guest guest
Our regular gi tried to give us this because he had samples. I think this company gives docs samples and markets. I can't remember what was in it but I think it had something that I was concerned about like some kind of sweetener. This was the only probiotic the regular gi really knew about because they had given him samples. I took him information on a 1/2 dozen more basics like probio gold and primal defense and he had never seen them. So I don't know the answer to your question but I'd be suspicious. I have not ever had the opportunity to discuss probiotics with dr. k. the asd gi guy. He doesn't seem very interested in one vs another. Hope this helps Florastor? Guest guest
Hi " helpfile " , Thank you very much for your comments regarding Florastor. I just want to clarify that Primal Defense and Probio Gold are not SCD legal. Thank you again for reminding parents about free samples and doctors. Many doctors are too busy with many pressing problems such as insurance, medical school debt,,,etc...It is up to us parents to do the homework. We are very grateful to Elaine for doing so much research and finding a safe path for our children to heal. I wish you the best success with SCD.
