Its a horrible soft tissue infection. I had it in my leg last October and

it made my leg swell up and I could barely walk...very painful! You can get

it thru any open wound and it seems to be most often found in larger people.

It's also hard to get rid of....I had mine for awhile...even with all the IV

drugs and strong antibiotics I was given!

My surgeon gave me antibiotics in my IV during and after surgery the whole time

I was in the hospital. Then I had to take Cipro for 5 days once I was home.

This was all to prevent infection. I had a very minor infection at the base of

my incision that was from an internal stitch popping. Once the stitch was

pulled out, the infection cleared up immediately. Definately call your surgeon

and the doctor who ran the culture. Infections should not be messed with.
