Guest guest
Heidi, I hope you don't mind me contacting you. Chrissie happened to mention to me that you use an insulin pump. I have had a TP and currently have 4 injections of insulin each day. I have Humalog with meals and Glargine (Lantus) at night. I am a nurse, and i am required to work internal rotation shifts, which means one week of nights each month. I have read some information about insulin pumps, and feel i would benefit from using one. I have asked my Diabetes Nurse Specialist about this, but i was told that the nurses hadn't received training yet, so it was not available in my area (Stoke-on-Trent, UK). In the UK, the giving sets, cartridges, dressings etc have to be funded by your General Practitioner, and, as he complains about the cost of Creon, i can't see that he would be happy with this. I appreciate that you won't know specific information about the UK, but i was wondering if you could give me some general info about insulin pumps. Did it take you long to get used to it? Are there any disadvantages? If anyone else has any info that they think would be useful, i would love to hear from you. Thank you.
