So is Goat Brie (Soignon) which may be at Whole Foods when you start cheese. Nut butter is high in fat. can you use it? How about extra egg yolks in recipes? > > Carol F. Okay, I've printed out the recipe for avocado muffins from scdrecipes.com. My kids don't like avocado, so I'm looking to be sneaky. I want to up their caloric intake. They eat and eat and eat. They don't have trouble tolerating anything so far, although we have not ventured to cheese. It's frustrating that a kid with malabsorption problems would get on this diet, then eat and eat and eat and lose weight. And we're still doing cooked, peeled fruits. So any suggestions (with references of where to find a recipe)? And when people refer to sneaky pancakes or sneaky muffins, which recipe found where are they referring to? Guest guest
How about olives? Try the ones without preservatives at the HFS. Only use plain olives. What about not making my mouth water? I never eat after 7:30 p.m. Now I have a strong desire to go out and get these ingredients! > > Carol F. Guest guest
Hi Angie, > So any suggestions (with references of where to find a recipe)? When I needed to add potassium to my diet I was eating lots of avocado. One thing they may like is blend a ripe avocado (maybe start with 1/2) with 1.5 lbs of ground beef. Blend well in food processor so there are no visible chunks. It adds a great flavour to the burger and the dark color hides the green of the avocado. I also added it to 1 lb of ground chicken but the burgers looked green - I told my son I was eating martian burgers. These also tasted very good with a little homemade mayo and ketchup. Guest guest
Hi Angie, > It's frustrating that a kid with > malabsorption problems would get on this diet, then eat and eat and > eat and lose weight. Please see http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/pecanbread/message/53106 I explained some of the reasons why they have huge appetites at the beginning of the diet. Many people lose weight at the startup of SCD because it takes *a lot* of calories to adjust to the change and to fuel the healing process. Once they start to adjust they stop losing weight and most find that once their body reaches their ideal weight the hunger stabilizes. Guest guest
That sounds great for late on. I think it's too early for coconut. But it sounds yummy to me. I'm not inventive with food; I appreciate the suggestions.
