Stay 7 days after surgery (Dr. R. is requiring this, now) and fly

home. You'll feel fine, really!!

I WOULD FLY!! , I drove 16 hours, and although it wasn't that bad, I

would have been much happier flying! I flew when I went to clinic, but since

my mom and my 4 kids came with me for surgery, I figured it would be much

cheaper to drive. I would have rather spent the extra $1,000 or so to fly,

personally. My first trip was much nicer than my second trip! Except that I

had 5 little holes in my belly and a big grin on my face the second trip....

Hi, I'm 10 hours from Durham and we drove home this week. The first

four hours of the trips I tried to ride in the front seat...Murder!

The next day we drove six hours and I laid on a comforter with two

pillows in the back of the van and it was heaven. No problems! We did

stop every 1 1/2 hours though. It prolonged our drive home, but it

let me walk and keep the gas pains at bay! If I had it to do over

again I would fly though! You aren't eating anything that won't give

you warning if you need to poop or vomit!. You'll still be all juice

and soup. Good luck!

Hi ,

One of my big concerns after the surgery was nausea b/c I tend to get

motion-sickness rather easily. I wore the patch (Transderm Scop) for

the flight down, for the surgery (as instructed by Dr. R) and then also

for the flight home. I did not experience any nausea *at all*, and am

completely THRILLED about that!! On previous flights, I have always

taken Dramamine and still had to have the barf bag ready! But not for

the flights to and from Durham...and they were not smooth flights

either.

I personally would recommend that you fly...and stay the full 7 days

that your surgeon wants you to!

Hi !

I live in Wichita, Kansas (not too far from Tulsa). I just had the

mgb on August 9. My husband and I flew to North Carolina. Flying

was

not a problem at all!

I had surgery on Wednesday and...speaking very quietly...flew home

Sunday morning. While I have not had any complications, I would

*highly* recommend that you stay the full 5-7 days following your

surgery. The piece of mind would have been worth it for me!

If you have any questions, I'd be happy to talk to you. Feel free to

call me at home in the evenings at .

Good luck!

I flew there on Tuesday morning from OKC and arrived around noon and went to

the Tues afternoon clinic. I had surgery on Wednesday am and was released

on Thursday am. We stayed in Durham until Sunday morning, just in case, but

came home and had my regular dr take out the staples on Tues. am the week I

got back. i think it is a good idea to stay at least 3 days or longer, but

I was totally fine after the second day out of the hospital. We went to old

town Salem on Friday and walked around in the middle of July and I was fine.

We went to the coast on Saturday and toured the Hope Mansion, etc. on the

way. And, flew home early on Sunday, toted my bad and had no problems at

all. But, you never know and better to schedule to be there a week in case

you do have complications or fever or anything.
