Guest guest
Rice protein powder, whey powder and egg powders would not be acceptable for SCD. Can you tell us what he eats in a typical day. The common way of gaining weight is to consume more calories than are needed. Do you know how many he needs and how many he is currently consuming? There are several high calorie foods on SCD. Does he have any true allergies? Knowing this will help us to give you better suggestions. Jody mom to -7 and -9 SCD 1/
Guest guest
the nutritionist said he's getting about 941 calories on average a day. he's supposed to get about 1300. I gave her three days' worth of food and supplements for her to analyze. she also said he's not getting enough calcium, iron and phosphorus. also too much vitamin A & D. He is just starting to eat some fried meat. I hide some vegetables in his evening omlette along with meat and cheese. He gets goat yogurt twice daily with fruit. He eats a few pork rinds and sometimes some scd bread or crackers or muffins. I cook all the time and freeze things. I try to sneak in some farmers cheese. He is a finicky eater so alot of times the food goes to waste or to my husband to eat. so none of those powders are acceptable? not even the egg? He eats one egg a day. should I tell the pharmacist to make something without protein and just have the proper mix of vitamins and minerals? thanks. -- In pecanbread , " Jody G. Guest guest
To be perfectly honest, there is not much nutritional value in pork rinds, if any. Also, fried meats are not all that great for us either. With him in such great need for high calorie foods, I would try meatloaf or hamburgers made with beef or at least ground dark meat chicken. How much yogurt is he getting daily? How about avocados? Does he like smoothies? Will he eat more than one egg a day? Eggs are a great source of B vitamins, protein and calories. Guest guest
-Yes, I realize that about pork rinds - however he needs it for his sensory integration issues with his mouth (very crunchy). this is the same with the fried foods, it's what he will eat. If it's soft or mushy in any way he will not eat it. I make him a power-sippy in the morning. yogurt, fruit, vitamins, fish oil. I put avocado in there when I have it or sometimes peanut butter or tahini paste. He doesn't really like hamburgers or meat loaf. I have to hide meat in the omlette. He gets about 2 cups of yogurt per day with maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 cup inthe afternoon. sometimes I add fruit and sometimes I just add honey in that one. the nutritionist is also checking into another nutritional beverage called EO28 Extra. Has anyone heard of this? thanks! -- In pecanbread , " Jody G. " wrote: > > To be perfectly honest, there is not much nutritional value in pork > rinds, if any.
