Guest guest
My little guy has been in his helmet for just over a week and I have taken him to Tim Hortons, Safeway, Swimming, church, you name it... and we have not received any comments from any adult. It's surprising. Ok... the only comment I got was " his helmet matches you swimsuit! " just before I took it off for swimming. haha. I guess I like blue. Two three year olds have shouted " That baby has a helmet on! " but that was it. So far so good. I was especially worried about the grocery store. Anyone else notice the silence on the helmet in public? Most people just say that he is a cutie, which is what they said before helmet. Guest guest
Briar has been in his helmet for two weeks now and I have not had many comments either. Most have been that they knew a child that had to wear a helmet as well. The only negative encounter I have had was a another father in the PT waiting room pointed his phone at Briar and I could hear the beep it makes when a picture was taken-his wife looked at the phone and said " you are so mean " , he continued to laugh and must have sent it to someone. I completely ignored it-I could not believe that someone would do this-especially when thier child is in PT as well. Also if I hear that he looks like a character off of the Jetsons or Peanuts one more time, I am going to flip out:) I just ignore it all, it is not a big deal to me:) I think he is the cutest, most adorable child ever, helmet or not:)

We have never had any bad comments and we take him out alot. We have met many people curious though. Just yesterday we had cable installed and the tech looked at my son strange with his helmet on and then my husband asked him if he has ever seen a child with a helmet on. He replied that no he hadnt. My husband then picked up our son and carried him over to the man and began to explain what was going on. I sat there and just smiled...to see the 2 men talk about it was remarkable. Hearing my husband explain it and the tech really was interested and such. When he left my husband felt so good about himself and feels as if he taught the man something. Indeed he did as he has no kids and wants some at some point. So I told my husband that you taught him a very good thing as many doctors dont tell parents about plagio or torticollis and if he was to become a dad he knows now what to look for. He commented back as to to bad we cant tell the world because he wouldnt want to see another child go through this if it could of been avoided. I told him to use this time with Justice in the helmet to educate as many as he can and he plans to do just that. Most people are curious but we always have a moron some where that is ready to say something messed up, but if they comment on a child in a helmet it shows thier mantality and isnt worth worrying about. Our kids are the most precious anyways. mom to Justice age 4 months in starband helmet since 1-26-
Guest guest
Oh my gosh! I cant believe how inconsiderate people are. I would have been so pissed if someone did that to my son. Im sure you were too. I overheard once when I was standing in line with my son some teenagers looking at him and saying "Timmy" from South Park. I know when I was that age I made fun of people too and maybe its karma coming back to get me?! But I now know I just didnt know any better and I was a rude and inconsiderate teen only worried about myself. We only have 2 weeks left in the helmet and I am more than excited to be done with it and I am even more happy with his rounder head.- /Cole in DOCband since 12/1/08From: so545462 <so545462@...>Plagiocephaly Sent: Thursday, February 12, 2009 11:07:42 AMSubject: Re: 1 week in helmet and no comments yet! Guest guest
Most people I've encountered don't acknowledge the helmet. My husband says he sometimes gets looks, but if I get them, I don't notice them. I've had lots of people comment on how cute my daughter is, but never a negative comment. The one comment I did have about it was from a grandmother who has a grandson in a helmet. She just asked me if it bothers my daughter at all. I can't believe some of the comments some people have made to some of you. I don't know how I'd handle that, though I have been eager for someone to ask about it so I can inform. > > My little guy has been in his helmet for just over a week and I have taken him to Tim > Hortons, Safeway, Swimming, church, you name it... and we have not received any comments > from any adult.
