Guest guest
we bought the britax boulevard and it's fabulous. alex looks super comfortable in it while wearing his helmet (and his helmet-less twin looks just as comfy). and while basic black is what i would have preferred, we were able to save a good deal of money by purchasing a 2008 closeout color—dark plum. hope that helps! hollymum to 8-month-old twins alex (in docband since 1/5/09) and max (no helmet required)On Mon, Feb 9, 2009 at 8:03 PM, Kate <rtkate@...> wrote: Hello, My son Connor will be getting his helmet from Cranial Solutions in about a week from now. Guest guest
Many Britax retailers are actually having good sales right now on Britax Marathons. The best price that I have seen so far is 229 for a Marathon which will allow you to keep your child harnessed for many years. My oldest fit his until he was 4 1/2 years old. If you can afford it, I think that it is truly worth the investment. Also, I know that you didn't specifically ask this but I wanted to share some information on extended rear facing. Many people are under the false impression that just because their baby meets the minimum requirements (20 lbs and 1 year old) that they have to turn their baby forward facing. When really it is recommeded that you keep your child rear facing until they meet the rear facing height and weight limits of their carseat. The Marathon allows you to rear face your baby to at least 33 (possibly 35??) lbs. At the very least, this is an option. I just wanted to share this information with you because when I had my first child, I turned him forward the week he turned one. Now that I have more information on this subject, I have chosen to keep my youngest rear facing longer. He is curently 16 months old and still rear facing. I don't have any specific links to post here but you can learn more about extended rear facing at carseat.org, or even by doing a search for extended rear facing on YouTube. There are many crash test videos there. Again, I just wanted to put the information out there. You can take it or leave it. ____________________________________________________________ Bad web design can hurt your business! Guest guest
I bought a Recaro from babies r us. They are rear facing until 35 pounds and front facing 5-part harness until 70 pounds. They are also mainly tested in Germany, which do crash tests up to 70 mph compared to most USA brands that test at 45 mph. They are the same makers of some actual racing seats, so they have very high safety standards. I did lots of research and watched lots of videos on youtube (which had me scared to death and I wanted her in an extremely safe seat right then and there). When my hubby and I went to the store I knew I wanted a britax, recaro, or sunshine kids readian 80. My husband looked them over and thought the recaro was the most well built. My daughter is almost 7 months old and 16 pounds and she looks like she's sitting in a baby lazy boy! It was $280 compared to britax's $320. I know it will last her a long time and she will be safe as she grows with the 5 part harness. Guest guest
As you can see people can be very opionated about the safety of carseats! I got alot of great information on reading the comments on elitecarseats.com. Some carseats are wider than others and you need to make sure they are going to fit your car. It is true that all carseats sold in the US must go through the same safety standards however recaro, being tested also in Germany are tested at higher speeds (they do have the autobahn). Recaro's are huge, but I drive a Yukan and only have one child at this time. I had the option to buy ANY carseat I wanted, and this is the one I chose. The thing is be sure to do your research and make sure you are comfortable with the carseat you have your child in. Good luck! Guest guest
We purchased the Evenflo - Triumph Advance LX. It received the highest rating from Consumer Reports, the exact same rating as the Britax. AND it's 1/2 the price of the Britax. My son seems VERY comfortable in his. It's rear facing 5-35 lbs, at least 19" long. Forward facing 20-50 lbs, less than 50", and at least 1 year of age. Each store may sell a different color. We got ours from Wal Mart and it's a brown theme. Guest guest
i was curious b/c we got the triumph before we got our 1st roundabout and had horroble issues with the knob rearfacing though i also had trouble getting used to the way the straps were so we ditched it for the roundabout. it was easy to install though On Wed, Feb 11, 2009 at 11:36 AM, Burt & Jacqui <burtandjacqui@...> wrote: we currently use it rear facing for our 26 lb 9 month old. : ) Burt, Jacqui & Jacksen http://web.mac.com/bsoltero/--- On Wed, 2/11/09, Durocher <mom2howmany@...> wrote: From: Durocher <mom2howmany@...>Subject: Re: Carseat question..slightly off topic Plagiocephaly Date: Wednesday, February 11, 2009, 11:00 AM did you use it rearfacing too or only ffing?
