Guest guest
Hi Donna; Thanks for the additional info on IRAs and the info about the penalty reduction. I have withdrawn about 20K out of my IRA (thats 15K left after penalties) for my MGB this November. It's nice to hear I may be getting some of those penalties back at tax time. I'm on long term disability, going to school with vocational rehab.... so my AGI is pretty low too. Subject: Self-Paying Help I plan to self pay, and no, I don't happen to have $12,000 + in my checking account! I do plan to withdraw money from my IRA, penalty free. A law came out in 1998 that you can use the money penalty free for unreimbursed medical expenses provided the amount exceeds 7.5% of your adjusted gross income (same requirements as the IRS on medical expenses). As I am self-employed, and I can get my AGI down pretty well.
