Guest guest
The concept behind delaying these is that they are more difficult to digest. Nuts are usually introduced earlier... and nut butters would be first, then nut flours, then whole nuts... depending on your progress (everyone is different). Beans are started later.... much later.... because they are typically much more difficult to digest for someone with a damaged gut. You need to have some time for significant healing (a few months?), then soak and cook them according to the instructions in the book.... and start with a very small amount to see how they are tolerated. Pink lentils are probably the easiest to digest, when it comes to legumes (they are just like regular greenish-brown lentils... but have the hulls removed). Patti delaying the introduction of beans and nuts Hi Let me introduce myself. My name is Debby and I'm a 35 year old woman with both Crohns disease and Aspergers syndrome. I am getting ready to start the CSD diet but before I do I have a question. What are the reasons for delaying the introduction of beans and nuts. If it is just because of diarrhea, I don't have any right now, so I thought I might be able to introduce them sooner. If it is for other reasons besides diarrhea, then the diet might not make sense for me, as I am a vegatarian and think this diet would be unrealiastic for me without beans and nuts. Thanks for your help Debby
