Guest guest
Hi , My daughter is on the diet for support of seizure control. Gut healing will have it's ups and downs... and there is commonly a " flare up " of symptoms at about 2 months. Could be that what you're seeing is related to that. Katera has continued to have seizures, though we had some long seizure-free stretches when she was on SCD before. The first time, she went 10 weeks without a seizure, then had one.... then went five MONTHs seizure free. After that, we saw them return with a vengeance... and have had to stop and seek some other avenues, including meds again, and a VNS. Every seizure kid is different, so I'm not sure we can really compare. Katera was having about two or three seizures per month prior to re-staring SCD in May... about six weeks ago now (about the same time you started?), and have only seen one seizure (last week)... but it was a real doozy. I'm hoping that's it for a while. Patti, mom to Katera, age 9, CP, seizures, dev. delays, micro, etc, etc. seizure question I do not see lots of mention of seizures on this list. My daughter has no OVERT signs of gastro problems but she does have a seizure disorder caused by a chromosomal abnormality. Nonetheless, we have seen incredible improvement with the SCD diet. We went from having a long (8-10 minutes) grand mal seizure daily (along with lost speech and lost motor skills) to mostly having no seizures. Question, the last couple of days we have seen some small absent seizures that are tending to increase. Does anyone know if this might just be a temporary " flare up " . She has been on the diet for about 45 days now. It took about 2 weeks for the seizures to go away initially. We have slowly added to the intro diet. She has been having lots of fruits and vegis lately. She does the goats milk yogart (when I can find goats milk). No eggs or cow dairy (I have seen reactions to this). Any thoughts? -- Sahr Abby, 5 year old with seizures, SCD 45 days
