Guest guest
well it all depends on what your friend is eating.....if your friend is eating protein for instance, then there is nothing to keep the blood sugar elevated.....If I were your friend, I would take less insulin...Or eat better carbs. I hope this finds you and yours well.....Mark sharp drop in blood sugar? any info > Hi all, > > I was wondering if anyone could help with this question. Guest guest
Vicky, I'm diabetic and the only times I have this happen is when I've injected too much insulin based on the carb and protein content of my meal. I have to dose separately for my protein, about two hours after eating, since it doesn't begin to digest until about two hours after a meal. The fast-acting insulin I inject just prior to eating is based only on my carbohydrate consumption. If I'm not very precise about counting out the amount of carbs, it can result in a hypo or low reading about an hour to an hour and a half after I eat. Does your husband dose according to his carb count, or is he just on a sliding scale dependent upon his pre-meal BG? If it's the latter, it can be very difficult to predict his post prandial readings if his carbs and proteins fluctuate. I hope this helps, write again if you have any questions.
