Guest guest
Dear , Thank you so much for the warm welcome back! Everybody has been so kind about that. It's truly heartwarming. Gosh , I'm really so sorry to learn that you are having such a hard time of it of late. And now you have even more trouble because of your asthma too. My mother is elderly and struggles with asthma/emphasema, so I have some idea how hard and scary asthma is to deal with. A bad combination - asthma and chronic pancreatitis. Are you homebound? Have you been in the hospital more than usual lately. What, if anything helps your asthma attacks? My mother is on Albuterol and Advair Diskus. They help her up to a point, but she developed pumonia last month and had to go to the hospital. Still, she doesn't have to contend with C.P. as you do. Wow, that's really a tough break for you and I'm concerned for you. As for me, it's basically the same as before. I think of it as a revolving pattern. The only real difference is that I take nutrition via a G/J tube and I.V. Phenergan through my central line. My Puestow and Whipple surgeries were not the cure that I had longed for. I just try and keep a positive attitude and accept my limitations. What usually sets off a panc. attack these days is either idiopathic, or a stone lodging in scar tissue. I've lost a lot of weight in the past two or three years. About 50 pounds or so. With the tube feedings I stay around 140-150. Take care of yourself my friend. It's so good to hear from you again! I have always enjoyed corresponding with you , and I hope we can pick up where we left off. This group is really terriffic about making one feel very accepted and cared for. I've missed that give and take. It's good to be back home at PAI! :-) Your Pancreas Pal, Henry > Dear Henry I am so happy to see you on board once again. Guest guest
Hi Henry Sorry to be slow about getting back to you but with the holidays one is busier than usual. I go tomorrow to see the doctor in regard to my asthma. They sent a test out on Tuesday to see if I have a bacteria infection in the chest. When they get this back if its positive I will be put on antibiotics to clear it. My pancreas is not happy of late but that is an ongoing problem as you know. On Jan. 8 I go back to see the surgeon( I had bile duct bypass surgery in Sept.) who is looking for a pancreatic specialist for me here in Toronto. The surgery in Sept. was to correct the bile backing up into my stomach which was causing a lot of nausea. Unfortunately my husband of 44 years died in March 2002 and I lost my helpmate which made this disease a lot more bearable. In the past 8 years I have had 6 surgeries so I dont look forward to any more at this time. Are you still writing? Are you still able to work a little? I am so glad to see you back. from Canada
