Guest guest
Today I finally called my husband's employment benefit department to complain and ask for assistance in fighting Cigna's assinine demands for nitpicking info. My policy clearly states " Gastric stapling and gastric bypass surgery is covered for Morbid Obesity. " There are no exceptions or loop holes. It is covered - period. When I detailed to the individual the hell Cigna has been giving me the benefit's clerk asked me if I had ever seen the film " Rainmaker " with Danny DeVito and Matt Damon (you will recall it was about an unscrupulous insurance company that denied all claims regardless of their validity). It hit me that she was right that is exactly what all of our insurance companies are doing to all of us. I understand Dr. Rutledge's frustration with the insurance process. I share his disgust and exhaustion. I now know why people go crazy and shoot up offices. They are forced to do so by the slow, methodical torture of individuals like those employed at insurance companies. Don't worry, Dr. Rutledge, I'm not crazy, I'm not going to shoot up an office. But the daydreams sure are satisfying. JC
