Hi ,

I haven't had a whipples - but i have a total pancreatectomy in 2000. I agree,

it is a scary decision to have such major surgery. I was in hospital for 5

weeks, and 15 weeks after the operation i was back at work, as a staff nurse

caring for sick children, working shifts, including nights.

If i can help with any more info, please contact me.

Best wishes,

Sue.

I

I had a whipple in august of 1998. I am sure things have changed a bit since

then. Unfortunately I was in the hospital till October but it was because I

had trouble keeping food down and had to have afeeding tube put in but I did

really well for a few years after. I even had a son with no problems. I have

recently started having problems again but I have chronic sclerosing

pancreatitis and it is linked to CF. My thoughts are with you for a good

surgery and a

quick recovery.

Hi, I'm new to this group. My husband gets pancreatits about twice a

year for the past three years, and he is in the hospital as of now .

This seams to be the worst one yet.I read that you had your pancreas

removed? Can a person survive without it? My husband is also a

diabetic. What is a whipple?-- In pancreatitis ,
