Guest guest
As a suggestion to newcomers who are just beginning the process - learn from my mistakes and roadblocks. Insure that your PCP sends records documenting previous weight loss methods and results - my insurance company insists upon having these records - Dr. Rutledge cannot send these records - he can only send his OWN records only your PCP can send these records Insure that you ALWAYS record the name, date and time as well as notes of any phone call you make to anyone regarding your attempt to be approved for surgery Most insurance companies require an actual clinic visit before they will even consider your insurance request. Keep copies of everything. If your PCP sends a letter on your behalf ask him/her to fax and/or mail you a copy. Keep copies of all emails, notes of all phone calls, copies of all letters, etc. Check, double check and triple check all phone numbers and fax numbers for the insurance companies - I think they deliberately give you the wrong numbers. I went through 4 different fax numbers (all given by the insurance company) before the 5th fax number was actually the correct one. Debbie has even worse nightmare experiences with more runarounds and wrong numbers given by insurance companies. Don't be a wimp. Demand, demand, demand. Don't let the insurance company wear you down. Let them know you are in it for the long haul. If necessary call them every morning and every afternoon until you get the result you want. I hope this helps someone. janice
