Guest guest
Sheesh this kid is giving us a run for our money this summer. My husband took the kids up camping on Saturday with his parents in the trailer. His folks came back today because his dad is having surgery tomorrow so they brought back . Turns out, was up all night throwing up and with diarrhea. He had been acting fine prior to this and is fine now. No fever.................nothing. The clinic says it may be a bug or someting small like that but without a fever it is hard to say. So here we sit at home hoping he is over whatever it was he had and watching Scooby-Doo. Regardless if he is fine he still is not going back up camping. mom to 4wcf and about to recieve his vest and Brenna almost 8wocf _________________________________________________________________ Add photos to your messages with MSN 8. Guest guest
Hi, I don't know what the water situation is where they were camping but I know that if the drinking water gets contaminated with soap or shampoo types of products, you can get this type of reaction (sometimes even if water is boiled). If it is only that, it isn't any fun but not life threatening. If it were me I would keep a close eye on him and replenish those electrolytes. Hope it's no big thing! if it's not one thing it's another Sheesh this kid is giving us a run for our money this summer. Guest guest
The place where they camp is an improved camp ground and the water is on a well that you have to pump out of the ground by hand. He did this at about one in the morning, long after dinner. He always washes his hands and isn't one to touch his face with his hands. He doesn't use the outhouse, he uses the bathroom in the trailer. He is doing ok now, kind of quiet but otherwise fine. Not eating a whole lot but he is pretty tired from last nights ordeal. His grandpa said it lasted from about one until three or four then they are all up at the crack of dawn, so no sleep for the most part. I am just glad to have him home with me where i can keep a close eye on him and take him to the dr if need be. I know that i don't post about anybody else very often but sometimes I don't know what to say. I do sympathize with all of you and am very grateful that this group is here to turn to. The support here is getting better but sometimes I feel like realating with people who are in the same boat. > >Reply-To: cfparents >To: <cfparents > >Subject: Re: if it's not one thing it's another >Date: Tue, 5 Aug 2003 20:55:56 -0400 > >Hi, >I don't know what the water situation is where they were camping but I know >that if the drinking water gets contaminated with soap or shampoo types of >products, you can get this type of reaction (sometimes even if water is >boiled). Guest guest
It can take a few hours for the soap to cause the problem but it could easily have been something else. I am glad that he is ok now! He's probably exhausted from being up in the night ( she says while typing at 4:40 am!) I hope the support situation gets better there but if not we are here for you. Sometimes I am able to contribute to a post and sometimes not, don't feel bad about it. Sometimes I just don't have the energy. Take it easy if it's not one thing it's another > > > Sheesh this kid is giving us a run for our money this summer. Guest guest
That is good news that he is doing much better now. It appears you all covered all the " touchy " areas in your prevention manual :) Good work!! I wish all could do that. Maybe you could really write a list of " careful acts " for those camping with a person who has CF . It would be great . we could all copy & save for the camping days . I could even put it in my newsletter as a great infection control aid :) let me know . I am putting my INFORMER (newsletter -goes to 3000 CF centers & families-free) down today. I stayed home to work as it is less interruptions. . Bless you for your help . we all do learn from each other & this is great suggestions. LOVE & HUGS, grandmomBEV Re: if it's not one thing it's another >Date: Tue, 5 Aug 2003 20:55:56 -0400 > >Hi, >I don't know what the water situation is where they were camping but I know >that if the drinking water gets contaminated with soap or shampoo types of >products, you can get this type of reaction (sometimes even if water is >boiled).
