Guest guest
Thank you every one for the warm welcome and especially for the info. Its a lot to try and take in in one sitting, Mark, but will print it and try to learn what I can as fast as I can. My initial problem started back in June of 2003, I had been out working in high heat all day, then went for a quick Mt. bike ride. When I got home, I felt nausea, and sweaty...thought it was just dehydration of maybe a little heat exhaustion. Cranked up the AC, got down a quart or so of water and made some pasta to get the system back on track. Within approx. 1/2 hour of finishing my meal, I was vomiting heavily, uncontrollably, was my first clue something wasn't quite right..decided it was still heat, so went for the Gatorade...very soon had the start of abdominal cramping, but seemed higher up, near the solar plexus. Laid down in bed for an hour or two figuring it would go away as I cooled out and relaxed. Wrong was I!! It just seemed to get worse. Had my wife take me to the nearest ER finally, when I realized this was a pain I couldn't handle alone. Got to ER they talked to our HMO which said they had to transfer me to their facilty over 60 miles away. By the time they lined up an ambulance, I was begging them to just knock me out. Woke up at the HMO facilty, not knowing anything just plugged into a bunch of IV's and such. After a day, finally saw a doc, who said that I was staying there for a couple days because I had pancreatitis...had never heard of it...that was just about all my initial consultation consisted of. Had a wonderful nurse for the next couple of days, saw the doc for about 5 min each day and was never given any real satifactory answers. After 3 days the doc said I was free to go, if I could get a ride by 2:00. Called my wife from work, she drove the 40 miles to come get me....doc no where to be found, and had not filled out the release as she stated she would. Checked myself out AMA after a huge row with the guy behind the desk. Was told I would be contacted within the week for a follow up consultation...Took 10 days off work to try and set up an appointment, but never got one until approx. a month later..took more time off to get back home to meet with doc, figuring this is where I finally get some answers...Nope took temp, Bp, all the usuals and said they would contact me when I was to be seen again. After that, feeling pretty P.O'd I went back to work and continued fine until Sept. Sorry about the book, will fill in Sept. later
