Guest guest
We had the same thoughts for a long time. Everybody in my daughter's day care told us that they have seen lots of babies with flat spots worse than my daughter's and they rounded out nicely. A lot of people told us that they didn't think the band was necessary, including her pediatrician. However, we didn't want to risk it and banded. And we are very glad we did. She will not have perfect symmetrie even after she is done, but we have done all we can and that is some peace of mind for us. Also, there are two babies in her class at day care (both around 15 months old) and they have significant flat spots; I have looked at one little boy's head since he was about 7 months old; he has brachy and even thought he has rounded out some he will always be flat in the back and it will always be noticable. He is probably a severe case, but I am sure there are quite a few babies out there like him. Yes, there are parents who overreact about their babies heads and whose heads would round out on their own, but I still think that it's better to band when in doubt.
