Guest guest
I tried melatonin with the my DD. It worked like a charm for about three weeks, then stopped working. She would go to sleep for about 15-20 minutes, then wake and be up for about 4 hours. It was very much like a gluten reaction, but we used Kirkman's melatonin so I know it had no gluten. We'll try it again in a week or so and see what happens. BTW, my MIL had dreadful nightmares when she tried it. Margaret
Guest guest
There's some interesting things with Melatonin. It's only produced for a small amt of time each night, not long after sleep begins and it's only produced in the dark!! Sop night lights can interfere with its production. IOt's a hormone, and I'm very wary of taking hormones, especially on an on-going basis. I've been using a magnesium supplement that UNDA makes, called Magnelevures, and from the very first night that I gave it to my son, he slept through the night!! It's been about 6 weks now, and still, he's not waking like he used to. It's not a huge amount, but it's balanced synergetically with a few other nutrients. I started with 1/2 packet before bed, and now I'm also giving 1/2 packet in the morn for calming -- __________________________________________________

Guest guest
That is so bizarre! My dd is 5 and mentioned bad dreams, but because I've only used the Melatonin about 4 times over the course of a few weeks, I didn't relate the dreams to the Melatonin...hum...Deanna
Guest guest
Not sure about Melatonin but Splenda is not legal on SCD. As for the muffins: How many big ones would you think that equals per day. I believe Elaine recommended only 2-3 almond products per day muffin size. Charlene UC 8 years SCD 5 1/2 years Is Melatonon SCD legal? For the ones that don't use honey, what other forms of sweetners do you use?Is splenda OK? My son keeps craving Carrot cake whcih I make in to very little muffin pans, he can easily have 10-12 of the tiny ones a day, is that OK? Thanks in advance! We do not use Splenda. BTVC says no more than four muffins a day. Jody suggests with children, two is sufficient. Melatonin plus magnesium from Kirkman is legal. Carol F.
