Guest guest
Antoinette, Apparently Elaine thought well of Dr NC, perhaps like Dr. Haas thought of Elaine ... you didn't even know Elaine, stop trying to speak for her. Her book does that job. Dr. NC's book was published in 2004, plenty of time for Elaine to 'disapprove' if she actually had. Are you saying that because Dr. NC recommends the use of organic food when possible, or doesn't recommend for us to use Sweet -N- Low, or waits longer to introduce dairy, that Elaine wouldn't approve?... That's not how works! Let the grown, intelligent, responsible adults on this list read and see for themselves. There is no fight here. Dr. Natasha -McBride is friend, not foe. Give the moderators time to read the books... these books are all helpful SCD resources, they don't replace one another, they all add. You can suggest someone read a book to gain info, but u don't have to disuade. Elaine's legacy is safe. There is no threat here. There will be many SCD books to come, and unfortunately Elaine and Dr. Haas will not be here to give their input; as Dr. Haas was not here to give his input on Elaine's eds. But don't fear, we are up to the task of evaluating and inputing with what we've already been given and will learn in the future. Just look at Pecanbread... how the moderators have advanced so many by what they learned and adjusted it to an ASD population. Dr. NC and Elaine were 1) colleagues, and both had in common that 2) they had recovered their children with SCD, and 3) many others. That is a special bond and special club; one, I want to have, and in which I want to be. Stop trying to speak for Elaine and drive a wedge where there is none. Elaine was also learning and growing and rethinking while she was alive ... that's why there are 11 eds. to her book. She learned about MCS from Carol... She learned about ASD, and approved of Pecanbread. We are all SCDers here. There are three SCD books. They are SCD resources, they don't replace one another, they all add: 1) Dr.Hass', published in 1951; 2) Elaine's eds. spanning 5 decades, 3) and Dr. Natsha Cambell-McBride's 2004, hopefully with new eds. to come. I agree that this book is excellent explaining mental illness and ASD and how it relates to the " vicious cycle " , but it truly does have some differences that I know Elaine would not have liked. These differences could impede and interfere with the success and integrity of the SCDiet. It is so important to protect what has worked for over 60 years with success. I look forward to those in charge reading this book, so they too, can see what I mean about these subtle difference that can place a cog in the wheel of the SCDiet. Unless Elaine changed her views, that are not mentioned in her web site and BTVC book, I can assume that she would frown on the use of probiotics such as the Bifidus. She tells everyone to not use it. Even Dr. Haas (the original man who created SCD) felt the culprit of much of the problem with the vicious cycle was an overgrowth of this " good guy " bifidus. Turning it into a " bad guy " when allowed to proliferate in such high numbers. The new comer would not know this. And this infraction of adding more bifidus, could keep them very sick. Guest guest
Dearest and to all it may concern, I am so sorry that our testimony of success, with just implementing the SCDiet upsets you so with me and my family. I have never quoted Elaine, unless I was certain that she had told others (her dear friends and close confidants), what I share on the serve. Often quoting directly out of the book, that I have now read 6 times, and is getting rather tattered. lol! But for a good purpose we are now healing when no other way worked. Lots of debt to show for the other ways...I might add. But not much else to show for it but debt and continued sickness and grief. Today we all heal. Our celiac daughter, seems less and less autistic each day. One reason. Elaine and the SCD TRADE MARK DIET. Hopefully those that have promised to keep the integrity of SCD alive will keep the message pure. It is not now up to me, a person who is only a 3 month " veteran " lol! But someday when I completely heal I want to help in keeping what works alive. God Bless all, Antoinette (entire family of 5 healing when no other way worked/SCD 2/06 due to celiac, add, adhd, autism and more)
Guest guest
Dearest Antoinette, All of our kids getting well is wonderful. Success is good. I'm just glad to know that SCD information does not threaten. All of us are getting better. It's good to know that we at peacanbread welcome all SCD tools and resources. It's a good thing Mimi had the courage to tweak and customize SCD for our kids. Agape,
