It is Memory Foam.  It is sold in twin-size, queen-size and

king-size sheets and is usually 1½ inches thick.  I think it is even on sale at

Target this week!  We bought a twin size piece and cut it down to fit the crib

mattress.  We placed it under the waterproof mattress pad and crib sheet.

What is the foam from Target

you are referring to? My sons STARband will be ready next Thursday and I am

very worried about how he will sleep.

Attended our assessment today and ended up doing the head

cast! yipee!!!

Hi

We waited 2 months for this appointment and sure enough our 6 month old

son still requires a helmut so we went for it. The plaster moulding

wasn't so bad either, the whole process was maybe 5 minutes. Our next

appt. is June 18th, that's when his helmut will ready and he'll be

fitted.

Is there any advice about how to properly introduce your baby into

wearing the helmut for 20 hours a day? I imagine one needs to build up

the time they're wearing it.....is an hour at a time a good place to

start or more or less? and for sleeping I have to admit I'm worried

how that will go. I'm sure there will be lots of challenges ahead for

us but I'm glad we're getting this done.

thanks everyone for your support, advice and encouragement,

Marina

Marina-

You're in Canada right? Do you have Target stores up there? Even if

you don't, other stores that sell bath and bed furnishings should

have Memory Foam. I personally didn't use it and my son has done

fine without it (he was older though and more mobile, so able to

find a comfortable position on his own - which for some reason is on

his belly with his head planted into the mattress, arms tucked in

underneath him and his butt up in the air - go figure), but it seems

to work for a lot of other babies, so it's definitely worth a try.
