Guest guest
, Hi, I am the Mom of two with cf. My son is 8 and daughter is 5 (almost 6). Both of my kids were born with meconium ileus and both required surgery. My daughter even had to have an iliostomy. She was able to have that taken down when she was a wee 2 months old. Anyway, she has had DIOS (Distal Intestinal Obstruction Syndrome)which is a big name for getting blocked up. My doc.s have given GoLYTELY while in the hospital but we have used Lactulose syrup for about 3 years now. It, like enzymes, can be adjusted to what is needed. I would ask about it with her doctors. It is a sugar our bodies are unable to digest. It pulls water into the intestines to help make the bowel contents more watetry, and easier to move. It can be added to drinks and she will not even realize she is taking yet another med. It tastes like syrup ( kind of) not bad...... Just a thought, Annie, Mom of Park 8wcf and Carly 5 (almost 6) wcf -- In cfparents , Doug & <meganjackson@b...> wrote: > Hi all, > > Just in from our review with the hypertonic saline trial. Guest guest
Traci is on MiroLax for reoccurring obstructions. It is tasteless and mixes with liquids. She was on Lactulose but it stopped doing its job.
Guest guest
Ricky takes Miralax once a day as well. He takes it in apple juice and doesn't notice the taste. This kid was born with a ruptured bowel but never had any bowel problems again until he was in the hopsital for his lungs in November and was given Solumedrol (steroid). Ever since then he's had reoccuring belly aches and obstrucdtions. But the Miralax works wonders for him. Becky > Traci is on MiroLax for reoccurring obstructions.
