Guest guest
I learned of a researcher who does the CF genetic testing for only $2500. Another woman on the list (thanks!) gave me the information. His name is Mark and he is in Detroit area. His number is 313- 993-1353. You can do all the IVF stuff at your local fertility clinic and then an embryologist sends a cell from the embryo to Dr office and you get results in 2 days. Insurance will almost NEVER cover anything regarding IVF unless you live in one of those lucky states or you or your husband have great insurance coverage. IVF usually costs about $8000 including medications. Good luck. We are going to undergo the same procedure this September. mom to Ashton, 28 months wcf > I am dearly touched by the time you all took to answer my questions > both on the site here and via e-mail. Guest guest
The insurance company won't balk too much if you point out to them the costs of another child with cf. Most companies will waive the fees for IVF-PGD for that purpose. Good luck. Dawn mom of 4, 7 and under, the youngest wcf
Guest guest
we are trying that tactic--including his $300,000 insurance bill from the first 10 weeks of life, photos of him at 3 lbs, his monthly g- tube supply bill (about $5,000), etc--and so far, they aren't realizing what a cost savings the IVF with PGD is. Very frustrating to us. We are changing our tactic and asking them to pay for the IVF medications (about $2000) and for the PGD ($8500). They specifically state in their policy that they do not pay for IVF so we gave up asking for them to pay for that. It is a crappy process. I think the insurance company is willing to gamble on the 1 in 4 chance. Makes me want to scream!! mom of Ashton 28 months wcf > The insurance company won't balk too much if you point out to them the costs of another child with cf.
