,

A starband is good for 6 months and should hold all the correction needed to be within normal range. In your post, you say that your son got his band on 1/26/09. How could he have outgrown it already???

This is the first time I hear a STARband lasting about 1.5 month!!!

Can anyone elucidate, please?

Our insurance wont cover the cost of a second helmet either. My son recieved his helmet on 1-26-09 and he was 4 months old. He is about to outgrow the helmet in about 2 weeks (we hope it lasts that long). No way can we afford the cost of a second helmet but we are pretty happy with the shape of his head but it hasnt helped his ears at all really.

mom to Justice 5 months - starband since 1-26-09

Thanks for all the answers. They are in line with our experience, which is this:$3600 for a DOC band, reduced to $2500 to our insurance company, whosomehow gets a special price. Of that, our insurance company pays$1500 one time per year on "durable medical equipment", leaving us a$1000 bill... for the first band.If we need a second band then we are on our own, no help from theinsurance company. Also, it's not clear what the price of that secondband is. Do we still get our insurance company's rate of $2500 or dowe have to pay the "walk-in" rate of $3600? I asked CranialTechnologies and haven't yet received an answer.>> At least that I can see.> > I'm new here so maybe it all got discussed long ago and

My son is huge. In fact he grew so much that they never expected it at all. They did say it would last roughly 6 months but my son has grew alot and has went from 13 pounds when he first got the helmet to now roughly 24 pounds. He also has a big head but it runs in the family. They did say they would like him in a second helmet but since insurance wont pay for the second (they didnt want to with the first) We wouldnt be able to financially cover a $3000 helmet and like I said the shape has changed drastically but his ears havent.I did post a message a week or so ago about how fast anyone else has outgrown a helmet and someone elses child outgrew it faster than mine although I dont know if they went with a second helmet.

, This is a bit off topic, but I would be concerned about a

baby gaining 11 pounds in five weeks. What does your ped say?
