Guest guest
Sue so sorry that more couldn't be done for your let. But in the long run, it might be better than surgery. Know you listen to your drs and take it easy and let it heal. !!! I'm glad you can still go to lunch. Wish I was there, I'd go with you. LOL Please rest as much as you can and please go the the specialist and see about your dizziness. It really should be taken care of. Know I'm thinking of you. hugs
Guest guest
Hi Susiecu! When you talk about the pain in your back due to the prednisone, it sounds familiar! Is it a growing pain in the small of your back that gets worse until you can barely move? If so, is this muscle weakness? I don't know what it is, but it is what keeps me from being able to stand in line anywhere, for more than a couple of minutes. Thanks for any info! Guest guest
Susiecue, Go see the ENT. Your vertigo sounds like what I had. If it is the treatment is painless. Mine was caused by calcium deposits lodged in my ear canal. It is wonderful to be able to lay down now without holding on to the mattress because I felt like the room was flipping over and spinning around. Hugs, Sandy I am down to 30 mg of pred & took my 3rd dose of methotrexate today. Stomach is a little more queasy but I can handle it. Having problems with the dizziness again. Will get in to see the ENT about the vertigo that the Neurologist mentioned. It's not the regular kind, (why be different) but the room spins when I lay down & the ears are constantly ringing. I have just not been in the mood to go. I know going will help a lot of my problems because I have also been stumbling a lot lately. Sort of like around the holidays when I kept falling off chairs. Well that's my latest. Will keep you updated on what's going on. Go to the PCP & rheumy next week. Guest guest
Dear Sue, Sorry to hear your going through so much right now. I wish there was something they could do to help your ruptured achilles tendon! As far as the vertigo goes, I had that quite a bit for the first few years and my rheumatologist at the time felt it was of course do to the RP. He gave me a prescription for a med called antivert and it really helped. It can make you a little sleepy depending on the dose. I was always hanging on to anything I could I was so dizzy and the antivert really got me through it. I hope this might be of some help to you. Sue Park My ortho visit Went to the ortho today for my right leg which I ruptured the achilles tendon on. He said I am up the creek without a paddle. Surgery is out because of the pred & the disease because it won't heal. A cast is not an option which I thought they were going to do today. but because of my feet swelling he said I had a real strong chance of developing a blood clot. If I was younger & didn't have the disease I might have options. He said to keep walking with the cane but to use it with my left hand rather than right. The rheumy talked to him right before he came in so he knew what my situation was Plus I had a ton of MRI films. So the game plan is to take it easy & not overstress the right leg. It will heal but it will be slow going. At least I still have my limited mobility & I can drive to have lunch with friends which is what keeps me half way sane. As you know shopping or anything like that where I am on my feet for more than 5 minutes is out of the question because of the pred messing up my back. I wait for Ted to take me if I really want to go because then he can push me in the wheelchair. I am down to 30 mg of pred & took my 3rd dose of methotrexate today. Stomach is a little more queasy but I can handle it. Having problems with the dizziness again. Will get in to see the ENT about the vertigo that the Neurologist mentioned.
